You're right- they are arguably dance songs and both are fantastic. "Fever" gets in my blood like no dance album has. I still like "Madonna" better as an album (and there's no question about "1999") but "Fever" is easily more effective in the dance sense to me.

Even better than 'Spellbound'? batting eyes

LMAO. I only like about 3 songs on "Spellbound."

geek Ahem If I may interject.

I could never place these two albums against eachother. While "FEVER" has a more 'Euro-disco' feel to it, "Neon Nights" has got a heavy 'funky-club' feel. Great analogies huh? Anyway. I get a different vibe from each. Though both are brilliant dance albums all the way through, I just couldn't even begin to compare them. shrug

LMAO. I just posted basically the same thing.

Hopefully, once my music career takes off, you'll come along and whoop my ass to push me to that next level.

I'll write some stuff that'll make "1999" seem tame! Get with it, boy!

I give "Fever" the edge because it seems more original and it doesn't have stuff like:

"It Won't Work Out" barf
"For the Record" lol

"It Won't Work Out" completely breaks the format. I wish "Come and Get It" were the last track on the album.

"For the Record" embarrasses me. Dannii sounds like she's on hard-core speed with the whole "I-I-I-I-I...I-I" bit and the lyrics seem REALLY contrived! I listen to it for a good laugh, though.

Here's my analysis track by track:

Put the Needle on It- 10. It is a perfectly sexy, sizzling funkfest.

Creep- 9. It's a lot of fun and hella catchy. Lots of pheremones.

I Begin to Wonder- 10. My favorite. Those alternating octaves get me every time!

Hey! (So What)- 8. A blast, but not totally memorable.

For the Record- 2. Only for the laugh factor. It's embarrassing!

Mighty Fine- 10. Perfectly retro-funk and fun. Dannii Summer?

On the Loop- 8. I like to call it "On the Loo."

Push- 9. Nice use of the sample.

Mystified- 5. A bit cliche, but enjoyable.

Don't Wanna Lose This Feeling- 8. A nice, summer breezy song.

Vibe On- 9. Hilarious and catchy!

A Piece of Time- 10. It reminds me of the video game "Rampage." Classic stuff.

Who Do You Love Now?- 10. Easily the most emotional track. It gets inside of me.

It Won't Work Out- 0. Terribly out of place. The song isn't so bad itself, but in context, it ruins things.

Come and Get It- 10. Dannii house! Love it.

B-sides:

Nervous- 9. Great 80's vibe!

Hide and Seek- 10. GLORIOUSLY strange.

Goodbye Song- 8. Lots of fun!

Yeah several. Except 'Vibe On'. And I never saw the Dannii Summer connection really.

And I've never minded 'For The Record' either. It's fun, despite the Hannah connection.

I'm telling you, the Minogues are your spiritual gurus of the millennium.

Even though I grew up with Kylie and she's just automatically better in my eyes, I think Neon Nights is a better album than Fever, althoygh Light years and Impossible Princess are better than anything Dannii has ever put out.

Aww, bless 'em both:

Seriously, though, I think "Fever" is the best dance album I've ever heard.

Better than 1999?

Better than Madonna's debut?

Better than Ray Of Light?

Better than Living Proof? Okay just kidding on that one.

I think "Fever" is more important in terms of dance than any of the albums listed, even if I like some of them more as albums. "Fever" captures the essence of dance like nothing I've heard.

you may like it more, but more "important" than "Madonna" and "1999" for dance music?

Just thought I'd add a little background on these girls, that you might find interesting (you've probably already heard this stuff though)...

Anyway, here in Australia we used to have a variety show called "Young Talent Time", which was a bunch of kids basically singing and dancing to pop and classic music. Same kids every week for an hour show on Saturday night. This used to be a VERY COOL show for me when I was about 6 and upwards. Highlight of my week.

Dannii was one of the little girls on this show, and one of the prominent members. She was a little chubby, and quite cute (but seemed bossy) and had a really clear crisp voice. She did this show for several years, and these kids were true celebs in Oz, honestly.

Then, later when Kylie got a spot on the serial/soapie "Neighbours", everyone was like: "Oh, that's Kylie, Dannii's older sister".

Dannii was the original family celeb.

Dannii was always thought of as the singer, and Kylie was the actress. It wasn't until Kylie moved to London that her career as a singer really took off. No one here in Australia took her very seriously in that regard, although Dannii had mediocre adult fame in theatre shows and musicals.

Kylie wasn't big here until around the time of the Nick Cave duet... after that, the homecrowd welcomed her with open arms, and she had a string of sell-out shows here in Oz. By that time Danni moved to London, and had the boob job, etc etc. Was doing musical theatre there, and I guess everyone sees her as "Kylie's shadow" although it wasn't initially that way. Personally I think she's the far better singer of the two, although Kylie's songs are usually better written in the sense of being geared for mass success. She's the marketer's dream. Plus her singing has gotten much better over the years, I believe she's had singing lessons and vocal training.

Anyway, that's how I remember it. I've never been a big fan of either of them... pleasant on the ears if there's a song is playing in a shop, but I'm not buying their stuff, that's for sure.

I like Dannii more. I like her music, which is very fun and light, her look and her attitude (great interview on Howard Stern). Dannii's "Singles" CD is so varied and makes Kylie's "Greatest Hits" CD sound very genric (but not bad). I think Kylie is a little overrated and Dannii isn't rated at all (here in America anyway). They are both very good and good looking. Love them both.
