And here's the official press release:

GET ready for TALES OF A LIBRARIAN, the first-ever compilation from Tori Amos. The two-disc, CD/DVD collection - which Amos describes as a musical 'autobiography' - was produced by Amos and includes songs chosen by the multiple Grammy Award-nominated artist from her Atlantic career. The set is slated to arrive in stores on November 18th. The TALES OF A LIBRARIAN audio CD features 20 songs that document a career spanning over a decade, among them 'Precious Things,' 'Playboy Mommy,' 'Spark,' 'God, ' 'Cornflake Girl,' 'Baker Baker,' 'Winter,' 'Tear In Your Hand,' and of course, 'Silent All These Years.' Amos has personally revisited and 'reconditioned' the original material, retooling the multi-track recordings to offer a new perspective on some of her most beloved songs.
In addition, TALES OF A LIBRARIAN will include a pair of brand-new songs - 'Angels' and 'Snow Cherries From France' - as well as newly recorded renditions of two ultra-rare B-sides - 'Mary' (originally found on the European 'Crucify' CD single) and 'Sweet Dreams' (from 1992's limited edition 'Winter' CD).

As sequenced by Amos, the songs - which Amos has always considered to be her children - form a unique personal narrative and a breathtaking view of an extraordinary body of work.

The bonus DVD features songs recorded live earlier this month during sound check of the final show of Amos' summer 2003 North American tour. Performances include 'Pretty Good Year,' 'Northern Lad,' and 'Honey.' The DVD also includes audio remixes of 'Putting the Damage On' and 'Mr. Zebra' - from the album BOYS FOR PELE - which, like the three live performance tracks, were specially mixed for the DVD in surround sound. Accompanying the two audio tracks are images that visually chronicle Amos' career. Unquestionably one of the most acclaimed and influential artists of the modern era, Tori Amos first captured the world's attention in 1992 with her classic solo debut, the RIAA double-platinum certified LITTLE EARTHQUAKES. Each consecutive Atlantic Records collection of original Amos material that followed has been certified platinum or better by the RIAA - UNDER THE PINK (1994), BOYS FOR PELE (1996), FROM THE CHOIRGIRL HOTEL (1998), and TO VENUS AND BACK (1999).

Looks God but where is "Rasphberry Swirl"? I love that song! Oh well, I have that CD and quite frankly it is the only one I've ever really liked.

Yeah, there seems to be a lot missing and a lot of strange things included.

But the fact that they'll be tweaked will make up for it.

I would've preferred a disc of singles and a disc of b-sided though.

that's strange, i swear someone in the band said that upside down was on eof the reworked songs and would be on the comp. guess she changed her mind...ya know, it's a woman's prerogative lol

the dvd is the most exciting part but i love the idea of her updating those older tracks. it makes sense. i mean, if i wanted a tori amos compilation, i could just burn one for myself from my cds. this is something to look forward to! thanks for the news tron!

Some of her most important songs are missing.

China, Pretty Good Year, Past The Mission, Caught a Light Sneeze, Hey Jupiter, Talula, Cruel, Raspberry Swirl, 1000 Oceans and Concertina are all left off. But I guess she's not much of a greatest hits kinda gal.

I love that song. My favourite song of hers actually. Too bad it's left off. I'll most likely pick this up anyway. Thanks for posting Tron! woot!

i'm excited about the new recordings of her songs. but i hope she's kept the furious atmosphere on some of the tracks and didn't do them in the style of SCARLET'S WALK. i mean, i like her last album a lot, but the energy on tracks like "Precious Things" or "Professional Widow" (i pray to god that it's not the remix!) should be kept. Her daughter brought her down in a (not bad) way.

of course she has left of many, many great songs. but i'll wait for the release and see how the chosen one's work together in the flow of the album. i'm glad she just didn't do a "greatest hits" (which would be, to be honest, just "Cornflake Girl" and a handful of remixed songs), but instead tried to create something new. through all the years i haven't been disappointed by any of her albums.

and the b-sides: that must be a real boxset just because of the very large amount of songs tori amos has recorded wink

True. Maybe she'll get The Cure's treatment and release a 4 cd set. Wouldn't that be nice?

i'm still holding out hope... i saw that tracklisting too on The Dent, but so far it hasn't been independently confirmed, as far as I'm aware... it comes from one source in Australia.

But still... it's probably true. And if so, i'm disappointed. Not a good representative collection of her career, IMHO. Nothing from SLG at all, only one track from TVAB and 2 from Choirgirl... so three total from her last 3 atlantic albums??? doesn't make sense.

My only guess is that she felt (rightly so) that the early stuff needed the most work as far as remixing and remastering and that's why she's focusing so much on the LE and UTP era material.

But still... 3 of her biggest and most important tracks, all singles from Pele - Talula, CLS and Hey Jupiter - are not present.

I guess only a 2 CD set would have made me completely happy. I'm looking forward to it of course, but can't help but be disappointed by the track listing.

Yes, agree that it's weird, nothing from SLG, and not even including Caught a Light Sneeze from Pele. Anyway, I'm so excited, can't wait to get it! Even when you own all the albums, it's always exciting to hear them in a different track order, not to mention tweaked!

Was delightfully surprised to see that Jackie's Strength and Playboy Mommy were to be included, since most of my friends don't rate those two as highly as myself (and obviously Tori)! Winter and Silent All These Years never fail to touch my soul.

If I was going to pick a track from Scarlet's Walk to include with this compilation, it would have to be "Wednesday" (and not just for the lyric "I start humming When Doves Cry"!), I think it would slot in nicely just after Mr Zebra.

I'll be waiting for this one... thanks for the post Tron.
