HELP! Ashanti's "rain on me" : who sang it first?

i know i've heard that song before. i was thinking it was a mary j song, but i can't remember. does anyone know?

Knowing Ashanti, she didn't get it directly from Isaac, but from someone who sampled Isaac. All second and third generation.
