It contains 50 of his totally cool funk & soul gems. No, I havent got mine yet, BUT WILL! Just played his "greatest hits" cd's I DO own, the other nite, & STILL really dig him alot. Got me "down" & "funky"!!! U can hear ALOT of prince in his tunes. ( or is it the other way around? Doesnt matter-both of them are the BEST! ) May the BELLS ring 4 U even when ur not in love.

Grandbelle, tell me its not yet another greatest hits cd!. The Payback is sooo good, what do you think of Soul Power, Lickin' Stick and all the many other funk gems. Anyone who wants to get into JB dont buy greatest hits, be bold and buy the albums, there is sooo much funk on 'em.

Yeah, I think it is! Ashamed 2 admit, as much as I LOVE james, I have NOT yet heard or KNEW about payback. Is it very new? Back in the day, I bought ALL his albums. ( NOT just greatest hits ) "Lickin' stick" is an older hit of his too though. Love it. Just like with prince, I tend 2 buy ALL his albums, as there is no song among them I dont really dig. ( hit or not ) I just havent kept up of late, & I'm going 2 get them ALL, & yes, that includes his NEW 50 anniversary album. There is NO funk I dont like! May the BELLS ring 4 U even when ur not in love.

Star Time came out several years ago. its liner notes and the Book enclosed was written by ERIC Leeds Brother ALAN,who worked for JB before he worked with PRINCE!!! Man...both of those two guys are SImilar. JAMES makes prince sound like a pussycat. he's a real Egomaniac. and EVil! (read fred wesley's book) but back to STAR Time...it is a Great primer for somebody who never heard where JB came from. its begins in the 50's and ends i think the 80's. it got positive reviews when it came out. you don't need it if you have everything ELSE. which i do. its for people who don't have any JB and got the Cash to spend for the BOX-set. some good JB colelctions are FOUNDation of Funk 1964-69 and DOIng it to death ...THere's several JBs double CD's out. you probably have them, huh? if you got JB and SLY then you know where Prn got his basic funk style from.
