what's so great about her? pretty much everything. well, except her attitude. it can be grating at times. but usually that's a plus for her too. yeah, i saw her on 'standing on the shadows of motown' and she's singing in the rehearsal...and she was pretty much USELESS! she seemed like she thought she was so cool, too. eh...that 'hey faggot' song was alright, but that 'if that was your girlfriend' song, eh...i don't know, she doesn't do it for me. am i missing something? Yes, you need to see her live and listen to the album Cookie. I agree, her bass playing has never really impressed me, but her overall musicianship is wonderful.

Despues, you're missing a TON Check her out, don't judge her by a few minutes on Standing in the Shadows of Motown - good Lord the woman has 5 albums out. Dismissing her entire (stellar) catalogue based on 2 singles is just nuts.

Okay, kids, I just got Meshell Ndegeocello's new album... FROM A RECORD STORE :gasp: That's rare nowadays.
Anyhoo, I'm digging the album. It's definitely got some juicy cuts. I'm still trying on the album and growing in to it. The entire album is consistent. My standouts are... Love Song #2 Fellowship Good Intentions This is the kind of material that sounds great live. I heard "Andromeda" live and I'm kinda spoiled to live Meshell vs. studio tracks. I prefer to hear a live version of this album rather than the studio stuff heard here. I feel that this album would sound so otherwordly and transcendental with live instrumentation. So far, I personally rank her albums like this... 1. Bitter 2. Plantation Lullabies 3. Peace Beyond Passion 4. Cookie: The Anthropological Mix Tape 5. Comfort Woman The album's still marinating for me.

anemone said: Aaaagh.. I'm pissed.. where is Quentin Mack? I know it was a Cookie outtake, but I want it! And she does a MUCH better version Live of Fellowship (Forgiveness & Love).. but I like it. It is a mellow Cookie I would say. It will get heavy rotation.
QUENTIN MACK HAD A DREAM!!! I feel you on that, anemone. She tore that song up during the Cookie Tour. I WANT MESHELL TO MAKE A LIVE ALBUM! HER FANS DESERVE IT.
