the best album ever (according 2 votes) The No. 1 Best Album of All Time Is...
...Bruce Springsteen's 1975 release "Born to Run." At least, that's the word from Zagat Survey's first ever Music Guide that lists the top 1,000 albums of all time, reports Billboard.com. This is new ground for Zagat, which is known for reviewing restaurants and hotels. But you have to give them credit. To come up with the list, which will no doubt be passionately disputed by many, Zagat queried more than 10,000 people. Here's an interesting fact: "Born to Run" may be No. 1 on this list, but it peaked at No. 3 on Billboard's album chart, never making it to the top spot even though it was on the Billboard list for a stunning 110 weeks. What's better than new old songs? Elvis Presley and the Rolling Stones get a new millennium-makeover, courtesy of some A-class British remixers. Zagat Survey Music Guide's top 10 most popular albums of all time: 1. "Born To Run," Bruce Springsteen 2. "Abbey Road," The Beatles 3. "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band," The Beatles 4. "The Joshua Tree," U2 5. "The White Album," The Beatles 6. "Kind of Blue," Miles Davis 7. "Darkness on the Edge of Town," Bruce Springsteen 8. "Revolver," The Beatles 9. It gets swishy at the top 10, but I agree with this most of this list. But Bruce at top, i't a fabulous album, but I think Pink Floyd or The Beatles probably should of taken it.
I'd love to see the rest of the list , andyone have a link? At least this list seems more honest and realistic than Blender or Rolling Stones pre-paid lists which are usually bullshit and seem like record companies are offerred to pay for placement.

Any such list changes every 2 years, and somehow, for the most part, the biggest-selling or hyped albums make it while LPs revered for decades don't.make it.
Q's list last year was a complete and utter joke. Good night, sweet Prince | 7 June 1958 - 21 April 2016

These are worthless anyway-- except to those who participated. They only interview certain demographics. None of those albums would make my top 100.

LONDON CALLING - THE CLASH
this album is usually in the top 10/15 of any polls of great albums. i'm sure rolling stone had it at no 1 at some point, i personally reckon its 1 of the all time greats possibly the greatest ??? its the album where the clash grew up , the albums pre to this very very straight punk rock, this album fuses every kind of music ska, reggae, rock, disco, punk, jazz. this albums got it all - strummer/jones wota team !

That's why I always try to qualify my list as "favorites," because it's impossible for anyone to compare all of the great albums of "all time." You'd probably have to listen to and analyze 1000 LPs a day for the rest of your life to make such a comparison. No one wants to do that, so the "informed" critics often revert to their "cliche" choices (as a jazz fan, I would bet a bunch of money that there are at least 10 jazz LPs better than "Kind of Blue" (a stellar lp in its own right), but what critic wants to work to find them?). Another example: in 1987, many critics said "SOTT" was the best LP of the year, and the majority said "Joshua Tree" was. With that split of opinion about whether JT (a great LP) was even the best album of its year, how could it be proclaimed one of the best album of all time?
Sorry, now I feel better. [This message was edited Thu Sep 25 6:55:13 PDT 2003 by namepeace] Good night, sweet Prince | 7 June 1958 - 21 April 2016

Every list I have read is full of BS.. Crap list that will change within the month it was typed.. half baked albums with cheesy cliche's that wont withstand time..
The only thing I remotley agree with is having "The White Album" in "The Best Album Ever" List.. its essential, there's more significance and in depth meaning with that album that goes beyond the rest on those lists, and its not because im some "fan" who loves anything they do.. it goes beyond the normal stuff thats get shoved in the publics eye... if u want more of my opinion on that, then hit me back in some mail or something..

How did the Beatles make the list once, let alone 4 times? Arent u the same person who said u havent even heard their albums as a "whole", just the silly pop songs that made the radio waves? Please, If u havent heard all those cd's, u cant gripe about them bein/ or not bein on the list.. BTW- Im not givin them the "ok" to be on a list 4 times, but I do wave the flag for White Album, and will back that up as much as I need to. yes, it was u... sdldawn said, "I respect your opinion, and I must ask this.. Have u heard the entire White album, Revolver, Abbey Road and Rubber Soul? Just wondering" moonbeam said, "No, and based on what I've heard, I'd rather not." on 08/26/03 9:47pm [This message was edited Thu Sep 25 12:36:10 PDT 2003 by Sdldawn]
