DIDO Meets BJORK! Has anyone else heard of Emilliana Torini? She's from Iceland. Take a listen over at Amazon.com...

Her album was produced by Roland Orzabal of Tears for Fears. It's pretty groovy. ![]()

I could have called her Bjork Jr. I mean to say that she is a lighter version of Bjork. I know some poeple, like my boyfriend, think Bjork is a bit much.

Interesting, a little to poppy for me. I might need to hear a little bit more than those 30 sec samples. If you do like that type of sound I suggest you listen to the Weekend Players cd there's some cool stuff on there. Kinda like Sade meets Portishead...I think

She helped produce the first single of Kylie's new album. I'm excited to hear it.

I think many can claim Bjork as an influence, but none can successfully do what she does. There's only one.

Oh yes of course. Bjork will always stand alone. However, there are some similarities in the delivery of Emilliana's melodies and I wonder if it's Bjork or Iceland as an influence. The similarity really stops there. Musically, Emilliana is just starting out. I think she shows promise. [This message was edited Fri Sep 19 11:15:01 PDT 2003 by VinaBlue]

I am lying in my bed Watching spider eat the fly I say :"How is that is breakfast TV for you" A little later I'm sitting by the window looking out The red army is really blowing up the street I'm too stale to eat breakfast So I smell my fingertips A cup of coffee won't do for me How days creep by in the greying sky How days creep by and they never even try How days creep by in the greying sky How days creep by Guess it's time for a walk Just to read some license plates What is autumn doing creeping up to me Going on the tube to scream when the train arrives Rubbing cress on my skin, God it smells so nice All the same I'd think I'll go on rolling up the hill If I'm lucky you won't see me How days creep by in the greying sky How days creep by come and ask me why How days creep by in the greying sky How days creep by Did you know that tuna fish Float up to the surface Belly to the moonlight just to cool down their heart down 'Cause it helps them just to think about the hurtful things I guess it's just one wait to get them some sedation How days creep by - In the greying sky How days creep by - And they definitely die How days creep by - In the greying sky How days creep by How days creep by - And they definitely die How days creep by come and ask me why How days creep by How days creep by How days creep by If you do like that type of sound I suggest you listen to the Weekend Players cd there's some cool stuff on there. Uhhh... no. I just figured anyone who liked Bjork or Dido might like Emilliana Torini.

Oh yes, I agree with VinaBlue. Emilliana does sound a bit
like Bjork. I first heard her album when my brother bought it and burnt me a copy of it. I loved it immediately. She also reminds me of the first An Pierle album called "Mud Stories". And it also made me think of portions of Laurie Anderson's album "life on a string". If she and Björk would work together they would no doubt produce something otherworldly. and true love lives on lollipops and crisps
