Lets Talk About My Bloody Valentine Does anyone have an opinion on My Bloody Valentine? All the gals say hoe if your man's giving up the gold. All the fellas say ruff if you're only giving up the bone.

I quite like Loveless. I quite like moody spacey rock, generally. I'm told that I'm one of about 5.425683596 females on Earth who like My Bloody Valentine, actually. I'm told this by somebody who thinks I'm hella cool for being one of them.

My Bloody Valentine were very underrated. Loveless is a gorgeous record. There is sheer beauty amongst all the noise and distortion. Kevin Shields is now in Primal Scream by the way.

My Bloody Valentine had been around for a while, since like the very early 80s. Their first few albums were pretty lousy and sound nothing like the "wall of guitar" sound they became noted for later on.
"Isn't Anything" is a freaking awesome album. Even the cover is brilliant, and overexposed blasted out image of the band that almost becomes an abstraction. That and Sonic Youth's "DayDream Nation" were two of my favorite albums at that time. "Loveless" makes "Nevermind" sound like a pop album, LOL. It's a shame they split after doing two of their most amazing albums. They also did a cover of "We Have All The Time In The World" for a 1993 compilation. It's really good too, very mellow and off the wall. The drummer of My Bloody Valentine went on to make an album with Hope Sandoval of Mazzy Star. It's called "Hope Sandoval & The Warm Inventions : Bavarian Fruit Bread". A very wonderful album of sparse melancholy tracks and beautiful melodies.

I love them. My copy of 'Isn't Anything' has spun round more than the earth! I had a nasty CD version of 'Loveless' until recently (I think it was a pirate) but I managed to get a vinyl reissue on import from America recently it sounds about 10 times louder and wilder!
There's a rumour going round that they've reformed and are in a studio in Berlin finishing off the Glider sessions. He's been adding his distinctive guitar work to their live shows for a couple of years now. So whether there's any truth in these rumours remains to be seen but would you fund a My Bloody Valentine studio session? If Island records & Creation couldn't afford it?
