Soul Train footage from the 70s Over the weekend,I was watching my 'Soul Train' videos from the 70s,and I was wondering, why doesn't Don Cornelius release all this footage on DVD? I would be first in line to buy it...lol...
I have ten videos that cover the years 1971-76,which you can buy at this site... http://www.angelfire.com/.../home.html But,I was wondering...does anyone know where I can get other 'Soul Train' videos, that cover the years 1976-80? I'm also looking for any episodes that feature Stevie Wonder on it.He's nowhere to be found in any of the ten videos that I already have

One of my first memories from T.V. was seeing Ike and Tina doing "Proud Mary" and Marvin Gaye doing "Let's get it on!" Damn...I'm old!! The Prince.org Photo Album http://www.purplehouse.nl...ery/Jacqui

Wow,I always thought that the show began in L.A. in 1971.I bet you have the same 10 tapes that I have, huh? we have the same ones definitely! i have the one with Sly. and yeah SOul train began as a local AMERICAN BANdstand type show back in 1970 (maybe even earlier?) i know cuz i knew a few people who danced on that show from high school back then! it wasn't too much different except the LA one was more glamorous///ie the chi-town kids were very MIDWEST. they dressed normal!!! you remember how the LA crww dressed> shabadoo, fred barry, pat davis,fawn...joe chisum...mr. X...the oriental girl with ALL the hair...damata jo freeman... all of those peeps were strictly LA all the way. the chi-town kids looked like typical teens from DA hood! check it out-DOn didn't always MC the chicago show... anybody from chicago recall CLINT GHENT? (i know REDZRYDER knows what i'm sayin'!) don't get me wrong man i dug the early LA shows (1971-73) but the chicago one was REAL man. now a question: did NY have a SOUl Train type dance show back in the 70's?

I actually wrote to him, and HE ANSWERED BACK! *swoon* (I no longer have the letter, though ) Man, I would love to see old footage of him again. Pat Davis, Vicki Abercrombie, Fawn Quinones were fashionistas! I remember the trend of wearing fake butterflies in their hair. You KNOW I had to get me some of those!

These 10 videos are great, but they mainly focus on just the performers. Many of the line dances are excluded from most of these videos, and that's one of the best things about 'Soul Train'...lol...did you ever see the 1972 episode where they're line-dancing to The Four Tops' "Hey Man/We Got To Get You A Woman"? That's CLASSIC!
