stevie nicks on britney/madonna kiss AND I AGREE!

Madonna-Britney kiss angers Stevie
By NUI TE KOHA
19sep03

STEVIE Nicks rates the notorious Madonna-Britney kiss
as the most obnoxious television moment ever.
"First of all, Madonna is too old to be kissing
someone who is 22," the Fleetwood Mac singer told the
Herald Sun.

"And Britney should be smarter than that. Hopefully,
she will figure a way out of this hole she has dug for
herself."

Original rock chick Nicks, 55, said Spears and
Christina Aguilera should wear more clothes and try
writing decent songs.

"I personally have never been to a strip club, but I
turn on MTV and see in every single video what it must
be like to be at a strip club," Nicks said.

"I think the mystery is gone, and if you have no
mystery, then you aren't even sexy.

"Real sexuality and sensuality is in the music, and
all these girls, vis-a-vis, Britney Spears, Christina
Aguilera and on and on, should go back to writing
songs and start over because it won't last and they
won't last.

"When they are 55, they won't be around and that's sad
because I think a lot of those girls are very
talented. But they are signing their own death
warrants."

Nicks was appalled by Madonna's publicity stunt kiss
with Spears at the recent MTV Awards.

"I thought it was the most obnoxious moment in
television history," she said.

"Madonna will be fine. Madonna is Madonna. She does
what she wants. She will get over this. But will
Britney get over it? I don't know."

Nicks revealed Madonna asked Jennifer Lopez to be in
the smoochy routine, but J.Lo told Madge to kiss
something else.

Nicks is the ultimate rock survivor, weathering drug
addictions, depression and a tumultuous relationship
with Lindsey Buckingham.

Fleetwood Mac performs at Rod Laver Arena on February
23. Tickets go on sale on Monday.

Don't get me wrong, I love Stevie, but she's old and that twirling around in a shaw thing isn't sexy now, nor was it ever.

So I'll get my info on "what is hot" from someone else.

i love stevie, god knows i do, but she has done far more outrageous things than madonna or britney. how about sleeping with 2/5 of her band? shoveling coke up her nose like a snow plow? popping pills like tic tacs? falling off stages and mumbling into her mic about how she refuses to carry her own equipment?

i love you stevie, but we all need to make our mistakes and learn our lessons...if, indeed, it was a mistake.

not really. i mean, really, it's been 20 years, and she's just now noticing the obnoxious things Madonna does on the VMA's? biggrin

as for judging whether or not it was good for Britney's career... how the hell would she know? it sure was wall-to-wall Britney that week, which is a good thing for releasing a new album.

and what's this part?

"Nicks revealed Madonna asked Jennifer Lopez to be in
the smoochy routine, but J.Lo told Madge to kiss
something else. "

she didn't reveal that. she heard it the same place everyone else did. the internet biggrin

How can one NOT agree with Stevie saying this:
"I think the mystery is gone, and if you have no
mystery, then you aren't even sexy. Real sexuality and sensuality is in the music, and all these girls, vis-a-vis, Britney Spears, Christina
Aguilera and on and on, should go back to writing

Along with Stevie, even Madonna still embodies mystery after 20 years! That is part of what makes her sexy! Sorry Britney-too much skin may make guys jerk off now-but it doesn't mean people are going to keep buying your music in 20 years..

jay jay--you are walking a thin line with me right now! worse than when you pass that really awful gas.

i agree that there's no mystery to sexy anymore, but why is anyone asking Stevie Nicks about this whole topic in the first place?

how old are you? Just curious...call me old fart, call me anything, but apparently you have not been around for the past 25+ years as Ms. nicks has been referred to as a sex symbol-part of it attributed to her mystery.

or... the next Madonna.

Britney nor her audience has ever had any illusions that this is a singing-songwriting act. She is what she is, and for Stevie Nicks to be trying to pound Britney's square peg into her own round hole shows that she misses the point.

If she was talking about Sheryl Crow, or I dunno, Michelle Branch, or somebody, fine, but this apples and oranges.

Liz Phair is that female rock singer who sings VERY,VERY provocative songs...lol...on her first album, she sang about wanting to be a guy's "blow job queen".On her latest CD,she even has a song in which she gives "beauty tips" to women, and no,I will not be more specific...lol

she's giving them advice to start over and be singer-songwriters. neither of them could write a song to save their lives. so her advice is irrelevant.

I think the Kiss got way overblown.I dig Stevie Nicks back in the day but everybody knows how Madonna Operates.ain't nothing wrong."Eye Candy" Appeal is ten times stronger than when Solo Stevie Nicks Videos were being played on MTV 20 years back.it's a whole different vibe&form of Presentation.

Sure. But that's the problem. Art gets pushed aside in favour of image. Stevie has written more decent songs than all the others could ever muster.

Yeah, she did have the "babe" tag, but then she was a very attractive woman. It's not her fault she was born a looker.
However, she never got her tits out, flashed her flesh or cheapened herself for publicity. That's the difference. And to say she "helped write some things" is a bit unfair. Most of her songs are soley credited to her. wink
