Diana Deluxe is perfect

just got my Deluxe edition 2 cd Diana cd (Diana Ross) and it is like a slice of Heaven. Has original version, the Chic version, 12" mixes, unreleased songs, long version of the track that was on TGIF soundtrack and Love Hanover. They should do this way more often. Now I have the Rick James/Street Songs, Donna Summer/Bad Girls and this one. Marvin Gaye is next. Go out and get it for a real treat. Sounds great, liner notes are good. I got it used (barely) for $14.99

I'm enjoying that Diana Deluxe Edition too. It's amazing to hear the original "Chic Mix" of the album, the way they wanted it to sound.I also love most of the goodies that come in the second disc...the 10-minute rare mix of "Love Hangover" is alot of fun (although at first I didn't like it) and the 12" version of "No One Gets The Prize/The Boss" is a 1979 classic.

These "Deluxe Editions" are incredible, aren't they? If you're gonna remaster an album,THIS is how you do it!! I also have that Rick James 'Street Songs' set (with the 1981 Live disc included),and the Donna Summer 'Bad Girls' set.I really hope they keep making these.Prince really should take notice!

Be sure to check out the Lionel Ritchie 'Can't Slow Down' 2-CD Deluxe Edition, which came out earlier this year. It's a mindblowing set, with many alternate versions and demos.

Elvis Costello's new remasters are equally brilliant... his "Get Happy!" album with all the extras combines to make 50 tracks. 50 tracks for one album!!! The liner notes are great and very extensive as well.

Yes,you should get it! The 'Can't Slow Down' Deluxe Edition contains the original album, and there are alternate versions for EVERY track. So you get the chance to hear this landmark album being created. In addition, there are 12" versions to the singles, even the rare 7" single version of "Penny Lover",which is slightly different from the album version.

I want the Lionel Richie one so bad, but I never see it for less than 29.99... just a little too much!

I got the remaster for "Dancing on the Ceiling" though, and it was cool- but not to the extent of Can't Slow Down or Diana Deluxe.

I still haven't got the 'Dancing On The Ceiling' remaster. That album is a weak follow-up to 'Can't Slow Down' and it only has two outstanding songs on it ("Sela" and "Love Will Conquer All").I hated the title track and "Say You,Say Me".I'll still buy it though, for the two tracks that I like, and for completion purposes (since I have all of his other albums).

How true is that??? Say You, Say Me was about the biggest piece of crap he ever did, followed closely by Dancing on the Ceiling.

I also liked "Ballerina Girl" and "Deep River Woman", but that's just me! "Don't Stop" was also okay, plus it featured Sheila E on the percussion.

But yeah, the main reasons to get "Dancing on the Ceiling" is for "Se la" and "Love Will Conquer All" (possibly my favorite song from him)...

Yes,those two songs are the worst things he ever did.Oddly enough,"Say You Say Me" actually went to Number One and even won an Oscar,if I'm not mistaken.

I don't mean to make this a Lionel Richie thread, but what do you guys think of the newer songs on his first hits compilation from the early 90s (Do It To Me and My Destiny)? I love them.

And I actually really liked his 1996 "comeback album" Louder than Words? Any opinions there?

LOL...yeah,I'm gonna apologize to Jthad1129 for hijacking his thread. But yeah,I really love that song "Do It To Me" from his 'Back To Front' compilation album (1992).That song is the most soulful thing he had done in years, and it's better than anything on 'DOTC'.I also liked "My Destiny" too.

'Louder Than Words' had it's moments.I haven't listened to it in awhile though.I'll have to pull it out and give you a more detailed re-examination.

OK! Time for a Lionel/Diana reunion, Endless Love (the remix), the neptunes version, the P. Dookie bad boy remix? or just a new slow jam for 2004

Lionel's music since '96 has been very forgettable though.

I think Diana needs to make a good dance album.Hey,if Cher can come out with a song like "Believe" and sell 10 million copies, then Diana should also be able to make a comeback.

As for Lionel,he just needs a good album period...lol...that last CD he did ('Renassiance') sucked big time...lame,Europop crap.He should reunite with the Commodores and do a soulful, funky reunion album with them.

I'd say half of since 86.
Dancing on the Ceiling aside from a few tracks put me to sleep.but His past Catelog as a Songwriter puts Him High on My List All-time.but Album Wise I ain't felt nothing all the way through since "Can't Slow Down".
