I do have a question about the AMA's. Why are they coming on in November? I've been looking for a reason since the noms were announced. It always comes on in January then the Grammy's in February.

Are they chaning the date for good? Because the AMA for this year already came on in January.

what a horrible list... if the RIAA wonders why the record companies are struggling, all they have to do is see who the AMA's consider to be the best artists in the business right now... sad

blame the oscars..

now that the oscars have moved up...everybody is sorta being forced to do the same..couple this with the continuing fighting between grammy and ama performances and they decided to move the date further away not to conflict with the grammys...

why do you think these are the nominees? because these are the people who are actually selling records and keeping the RIAA and all of the tangential industries (like awards shows and music stores) in business.

yeah, it's really amazing. I guess my point is maybe if they promoted really good music like they used to, they might see more sales. Compare the best sellers now to the best sellers 15 years ago...

it's all cyclical though. in the very early 80's, the industry was pretty much dead, until the success of things like Thriller, Let's Dance, Private Dancer, Like A Virgin, Purple Rain.

This has got to be the most pathetic list of nominees in years. Clay Aiken? WTF? And Cher and 50 Cent! I am actually a fan of Cher's but I would never nominate her for any music award. She can barely hold a tune. She's a great entertainer, but a lousy singer.

nod

THe AMAs have very few catogeries and really seem a very out of the loop (once in a while, the Grammys have some great nominees). I mean, Dru Hill? Then again, were there very many big selling R&B grops this year? It's based on record sales and I thought the Dru Hill album tanked but I guess it didn't do that bad. Cher makes some sense considering her "Best Of" sold at least a million here. Still, very strange.
