hi, i bought this when it first came out on 12". from what i recall P didn't have any involvement with the b side, but the sound is very Prince. Isn't Koo Koo a cool track?, i played it to death. My copy is in the attic along with all my old PPark vinyl releases.

It was a sleeper hit tho. I remember it getting a lot of play on the DC-area black radio stations when it came out; and the video got lots of air time on Video Soul / Video Vibrations on BET.

Definitely one of my all time favorites. I remember using it in a high school class presentation on the Minneapolis sound.

"Koo Koo" is an okay song, but a wrong choice for a single. The song is funky, but it lacks a strong chorus, and the vocals are too low-key.A better choice for a single would have been the rocking "Faded Photographs" or "The Pride and The Passion".

'Paradise Gardens' is one of my favorite Sheila cuts. It had to be written after the release of the 'Sheila E.' album because it definitely would have made it as an album cut.

The strings on it are gorgeous and Sheila's vocals on it are about as good as it gets for her.

Love it.

David, David, David... hmph!hmph!hmph!

While KooKoo isn't an obvious single choice, at least it had a distinct sound. Faded Photographs and Pride and the Passion sound like Kim Wilde or Bonnie Tyler rejects. Very lame 80's stuff.

Seperate aside -- the video with Sheila and Cat was great, too. Saw it a few times on BET.
let me come over it's a beautiful day to play with you in the dark
