--phyllis hyman, you know how to love me

--donna summer, bad girls

i've just been pullin out albums at random today and listenin to 'em...and they're all from the same year. weeeird. old-skoolers, what were some other good tunes that came out in '79?

Oh hell nah, you too? Damn biggrin

I loved her line at the end of the self-titled song when she sings over the hook "I wasn't born yesterdayI"

I love the songs "Under Yo Spell" and most importantly "Give A Little More" very well produced,,hell its Phyllis, her jams are always damn well produced.

The Sugarhill Gang's debut album was released in 1979. In addition to "Rapper's Delight", "Rappers Reprise", and "Sugarhill Groove", the album also contained rare groove gems like "Passion Play" and "Bad News Don't Bother Me".

smile yeah, this song is cheesy (in a late 70s-kinda way...lol).David talks alot of mess in these lyrics...

"Makin It" by David Naughton

Makin it,oo makin it

I'm solid gold
I've got the goods
They stand when I walk
through the neighborhood

I'm makin it
I've got the chance,I'm takin' it
No more,no more fakin' it
This time in life,i'm makin it (ooh)

Makin it

Hello uptown,goodbye poverty
The top of the ladder is waiting for me

I'm makin' it
I've got the chance,I'm takin' it
No more,no more fakin' it
This time in life,I'm makin it (ooh)
Makin it,makin it

Listen everyone here
This coming year's gonna be my year
I'm as bad as they come
Number two to no one
I've got looks,I've got brains
And I'm breaking these chains
Make some room now
dig what you see
success is mine
cause I've got the key

(repeat chorus)

Makin it...I'm makin it
Makin it...I'm makin it

Listen everyone here
This coming year's gonna be my year

(chorus)

LOL...he was the star of the TV series "Makin It",but it only lasted about 6 episodes,if I'm not mistaken. The theme song reached the Top 5 in the summer of '79.The show was loosely based on 'Saturday Night Fever'.In the mid 80s,he had a small role on the TV show "My Sister Sam" with Pam Dawber, but he hasn't been heard from since.
