no but it better be good. Cookie was all over the place & her live shows in support of this tour put me to sleep. I predict a return to form though, she's too talented to lay two eggs in a row.

I don't know if it will be a classic or not but I am anxiously awaiting it's release on October 14th, and also seeing her paly 2 nights in a row at the HOB in Chicago! I heard one of the songs - "Andromeda And The Milky Way". A bit of it plays when you go to MeShell.com. You can go to the website and sign up to hear it in its entirety - they will send a link to your email which will take you to it... but the link's only temporary. It will disappear soon so they are saying to hurry and request it if you wanna hear it. The website said that Comfort Woman is "deep soul blended with reggae and intergalactic psychedelia", and that Meshell is calling it a "Love Record" Alright now.

I also saw her perform "Andromeda And The Milky Way" LIVE in Chicago at a set she did here back in July! Girlfriend blew the back out of it!! Her live performances to me are sometimes even better than the cd versions! That sista is friggin' Awesome!! I don't think I've ever gone to see anyone for 2 nights straight other than my man P!

I find it very interesting, the differences in musical tastes on The Org. Farfunknugin, you thought she laid an egg with Cookie? I loved that cd!! The song "Earth" just mesmerizes me! Now on the other hand, I had major problems with Bitter! That was the one that put me to sleep, but a lot of other people really liked that cd!

disbelief

Man, what's wrong with y'all tonite? First Blaque puts Beck on blast and Far is startin' in on "Cookie"?

Cookie was a great record. SOTT was all over the place too -- and that's a time-capsule classic. I'm not saying Cookie is in the same class as SOTT, but it's certainly cut out of the same eclectic mode.

Was "all over the place" the only reason you didn't like Cookie?

I think "Earth" is THE gem from Cookie.

But I don't listen to that album much. I know I'm in the minority (not that I care), but I still believe her debut is her zenith so far. This isn't to say I haven't liked anything else by Meshell, I wouldn't be without any of her albums. Meshell is the first artist to restore my musical faith in my generation in the '90s.

Has anybody here ever heard her rendition of "Poison Ivy"? Damn, did she ever reinvent that.

I agree. I love Bitter, and Cookie has really grown on me. The more I listen to it, the more I hear how influenced she was by Prince (old school), yet it is also pure Me'Shell. Can't wait for the new one!

Don't get me wrong, namepeace. I am not dissing her work on Bitter. I gave it numerous trys, hoping that it would grow on me, but it never did. It just seemed to melancholy and blue for my tastes. I like to hear Me'Shell funk it up more... but she wasn't trying to take in there with Bitter. I still think it was a quality piece of work, it just didn't pierce my soul the way Plantation Lullabies, Peace Beyond Passion, or even Cookie did.
