Yes, this is really sad. But he has been ill for a long time and it´s probably for the best. Now he can finally be with his beloved wife June Carter who died a few months ago.
See the man with the blue guitar, maybe one day he`ll be a star...

Usually when you hear someone called a legend, it's a bit of an overstatement. This is the rare example of someone to whom being called a legend was a gross understatement.

This is very sad, and I don't think most people here (or many young people, in general) realize what the world lost today.

That said, I'm not surprised. After seeing him on TV late least year and earlier this year, knowing that June died early this summer, and hearing that he was in the hospital again recently, I was almost expecting it.

If you haven't seen it, try checking out his video "Hurt" today. I'm sure it'll be on a lot. It's a wonderful eulogy for him (and his wife) and it's rare that one gets to do that for oneself.

Every time I've seen it, it's affected me, and after today, probably even more.

Much love to the man in black. And best wishes to the Carter family, for losing both he and June this year. They'll be missed.

I just started listening to Cash recently & if anybody needs a starting point to explore his career, you can't go wrong with 'The Essential Johnny Cash', which came out last year. Truly great stuff. And of course the 'Live At Folsom Prison' album is really remarkable too.
His death is not shocking (unlike John Ritter's passing) but it's sad nonetheless.

RIP Man in Black

I always wanted to get his recent "American" albums (and now I'm sure everyone else does too). I just feel like crap buying them now that he is gone. A very sad for the entertainment business.
