LOL...funny,I was gonna start a thread about KC and The Sunshine Band a few weeks ago,but I chickened out
I've been listening to their music alot in the last few weeks.I love alot of their lesser known songs, like "Sound Your Funky Horn"(1974),"Wrap Your Arms Around Me"(1976) and "Do You Wanna Go Party?(1979).All of those jams are funky as hell.I saw them in concert back in 1993,and they put on a kickass show. You're in for a real treat. Isn't "Keep It Coming Love" (1977) one of the catchiest songs of all-time? Actually, the chorus/ hook is annoying because once you hear it,you can't stop singing it...lol...

Excuse me, Sir, but I started a thread about Disco Tex & the Sex-o-lettes (Sir Monte Rock III) not long ago. There's no shame in starting a KCSB thread. You should've went for it!

Okay, so we went to the concert. Here's my review.
KC & the Sunshine Band were very tight, very funky and very fun. KC was never a fantastic singer, but white boy could write some funky disco tunes. He opened with four hits in a row, daring peeps in the crowd not to get up and dance... we did. After the first four, he chilled with the crowd... saying 'hi' and 'how are you'... he acknowledged a couple in the audience who have been following him around on his West Coast tour... (I guess they took their vacation to coincide with his tour... I thought was was a nice moment). The casino sucked. Eagle Mountain Casino is a dive. It's about 16 miles east of Porterville. A town about 65 miles northeast of Bakersfield, Ca. It stinks. The venue was a poor choice for Mr. Casey's manager. It literally stunk. It smelled of cow dung. It was an outdoor stage, and the set up was folding chairs and poor acoustics. I will never go to a concert there again. It was hot, humid and the audience responded as such. Of course, the audience consisted of ages ranging from 10 - 72... The band was f-u-n-k-y. There was a full horn section, a drummer, a percussionist (the only original member), a kick ass bassist and lead guitarist, a keyboardist and K.C. playing his keyboard (a Yamaha DX7, which I thought he'd have upgraded by now). Two back up singer/dancers and two dancers. This group has been together awhile, and it showed in his tight control of the band. He paused a little into the concert to ask the youngins if they new who he was... he went on to explain that he was their parent's BackStreet Boy... he was Nick Carter/Justin Timberlake... He explained that he was 52 and still funky. And you know what? He is. |

The whole shebang... plus songs I haven't heard, some old school. What didn't they perform would be a more easily answered question. But it made me realize... this man had quite a ride in the 70's and early 80's. Hit after hit after hit... |

Hey... I didn't know he had a new album out...
It's so sad when we are so used to the old great hits that a certain artist sings that we are reluctant to hear anything new by them... Good thing we didn't feel that way when Carlos busted "Supernatural"... I'll give K.C.'s new one a listen... |
