Some more tidbits...
***There is a bootleg CD called "Emmy and the Emmys: First Time Out Of Manhattan".It's a 1980 live recording of Madonna and her band performing at a nightclub. ***Months before the 'American Life' CD was released,we were hearing all these crazy rumors about a possible Dr.Dre collaboration called "Believe Her" (or "Believer").Since nobody has ever heard this song,I'm gonna assume that it doesn't exist. ***Also,I don't know if songs like "Unless It's You" and "Rock Vanity" really exist,so I didn't include them on the list.An early rumor from last year insisted that "Rock Vanity" would be the title of Madonna's album. ***According to producer Steve Bray, the original, unreleased version of "Express Yourself" (recorded in 1988) is superior to the released version.Hopefully,we will get to judge for ourselves one day. ***Apparently, there are many more outtakes from the 'ROL' sessions. In addition to the four circulating tracks ("Gone,Gone,Gone","Revenge","Like A Flower",and "No Substitute For Love"),William Orbit has indicated that he may release several other outtakes on a future album of his own.

But never heard from that until this thread, weird. I first heard about "Funk Of A Thousand Years" and "Mad" in a 1995 issue of The Prince Family newsletter, reported by Diana Dawkins.I remember getting really excited about it,but when the 'From Dusk Til Dawn' soundtrack came out in early 1996,the rumored Prince/Madonna duets were nowhere to be found.Since these songs are not circulating,I have my doubts about whether they really exist. they do not. actually, "Mad" is a well-known Prince outtake (94/95 NPG era). i've seen Funk as an uncirculating outtake title as well. the info popped up in Prince circles as a joke played by a PP employee. another PP employee, a few months later, revealed that it was a hoax. in the meantime, i had emailed madonnacatalog about it, and they put it on their list of outtakes. when i emailed them with the correction, they noted my comments, but left it there anyway. this is how it started getting referenced by Madonna fans and on Madonna pages.

I did some "research" on the song "Jitterbug" and this is what I found out... "Bruce Baron recently listened to this track at the Library of Congress, and he notes that "Jitterbug" has no official copyright registration. This one was a major surprise! In addition to the songs I requested, the tape contained alternate mixes of several songs (to be discussed later) and about 30 sec to the end of a song called "Jitterbug".It was mostly taped over, but showed up between two of the tracks. It is listed on the handwritten label to the whole tape, but it has no copyright registration of it's own.No song writer is listed. It was originally spelled with a "G" but was written over darker with a "J" in blue ink. It's typical generic Shep dance music with Madonna finishing up with "Jitterbug,Jitterbug".Perhaps it's a cover? There is not enough to tell...she stops but the music continues. She says "Yeah, that one has some good ideas to it".The music continues and she says "Isn't anyone going to turn this damn thing off?".It abruptly ends.It seems to be just silly studio fun,and not really 'Erotica' album material but there was more before Shep recorded over it.He might have a longer copy on file?" Sounds like "Jitterbug" was most likely a work-in-progress,perhaps based on that scene in "A League Of their Own" that you mentioned?

"I'd Ratha Be Yo Lover" (1994) an alternate version of "I'd Rather Be Your Lover" features a rap by Tupac Shakur.
This version featuring Tupac's rap can be found on a Tupac bootleg called "There's 2 Sides Of Every Story".Tupac's rap comes at the beginning of the song before Madonna begins singing. These are the lyrics... "Hey they mind's different from what the lips say even when the media is gettin' greedier, you wake they hips sway, hittin' with the bomb ambition I caught you peepin',no more sleepin' I got you freakin' through the whole weekend fakes speakin,is it mashin' or just they heat try to get me all up in your satin sheets what they say,a blonde and a thug brotha the way you gettin' paid,I wish I was your lover" I'm not sure why this version didn't appear on the album. When the album came out,Tupac's rap was replaced by a rap from Me'shell Ndegeocello.

Wow Aaron! Some great info.
There is a track called "Forbidden Fruit" on the new Jessica Simpson album but Madonna is not listed as a songwriter. So how was it a Madonna song? The only name I recognize is Simpson (meaning she co-wrote it, I assume). Check it out. http://www.allmusic.com/c...4uak6kam3z

Me too Madonna should just say "fuck it",and release a 4-CD set containing nothing but unreleased tracks.I'm sure that would make us happy until the next studio album from her...lol...or at the very least, her upcoming box set should include a few of these songs.
