Cheryl Cooley of KLYMAXX Interview on "Upper Room with Joe Kelley"

Event: Interview with Cheryl Cooley of KLYMAXX
Place: "Upper Room with Joe Kelley"
Dates: Sat. Sept. 6th and Sunday Sept. 7th
Internet Stream:

www.upperroomwithjoekelley.com

Listen in as the "Upper Room with Joe Kelley" welcomes Cheryl Cooley of the
R&B/Funk KLYMAXX for an in-depth interview and music special. Klymaxx blazed
the trail for female musicians in the '80s with Top-20 hits such as "The Men
All Pause', "Meeting In The Ladies' Room", and "I Miss You" (Billboard #3
Song of 1986). Cheryl Cooley, the group's leader and O.G. (Original Guitar
player), has put together a great new lineup of talented musicians and
singers to bring Klymaxx alive.

From their beginning, Klymaxx has represented the independent, strong,
self-confident and self-respecting woman in the largely male-dominated music
industry. They carved out a unique niche for themselves with their
formidable musicianship as well as their lyrical emphasis on the "Power Of A
Woman". Klymaxx' place in music history is assured by virtue of the fact
that no other R&B all-female band has made their mark on the Billboard
charts.

Today, the new Klymaxx is in the studio, preparing to tour, and they are
claiming their place as the High Priestesses of Funk. With the release of
their new CD "Live at Pacifica L.A." , available at CD Baby.com and CD
Street.com, they are ready to show the many fans from 'back in the day'
that the 'Maxx is Back', and to introduce their unique blend of strength and
soul, independence and sisterhood, attitude and Diva Power to a whole new
generation of listeners.

The "Upper Room with Joe Kelley" radio show has been on the air since 1982
and is co-hosted by GI DUSSAULT. The show features creative music,
interviews and in-house concerts.

Just the other day,I was in a record store and I almost bought a Klymaxx compilation CD.I love the songs "Meeting In The Ladies Room","Lock and Key" and "I'd Still Say Yes".In the mid-80s,they were incredible.

Klymaxx is one of those great bands that broke up too soon. They had so much potential, but after their self-titled 1986 album, various members left the group.Fenderella (who sings lead on "I Miss You") signed with Motown for an uneventful solo career.Drummer Bernadette Cooper became a hot producer for a few years and recorded a little-noticed solo album. The group continued making music with several new members, but the magic was gone.I really think that,if all the original members had stayed in the group, they could have had so many more hits throughout the remainder of the 80s.

In any case, now would be a perfect time for a full-fledged reunion featuring all the original members.

It would be intresting but nobody would be intrested in seeing middle-aged sistas singing about raunchy sex lyrics, style & attitude!

Cheryl Cooley of Klymaxx gives major props to Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis during this interview. she would love to work with them again. In fact, Klymaxx was the first group Flyte Tyme worked with back in their fledgling production days.
