Madonna's Nobody Knows Me

Peter Rauhofer is working on the official remix for Nobody Knows Me, the next single from Madonna's American Life cd. He has been previewing it in it's various stages at the Roxy. In the meantime there are Deep Dish white label remixes out of Bedtime Story and Impressive Instant so keep your eyes out for these.

Nothing Fails IS the next single.

The Rauhofer remix news for Nobody Knows me is about a month old now.

I figure 1 of 3 things
1) if the rumors about this horrible idea for a box set are true, this remix will be on the second audio disc (remixes)

or

2) there was a rumor that a hastily-released remix album for American Life was coming out...

or

3) (and a greater hope of mine) the Nothing Fails single will get the same treatment as Bad Girl, with a heavily promoted/remixed b-side of Nobody Knows Me (a la Fever). however, there is a Tracy Young remix of NF now, so i guess they've got something to send to clubs already.

time will tell.

I love "Nobody Knows Me".It's a hot dance track. My favorite part is when Maddy starts chanting...

"I don't want no lies
I don't watch TV
I don't waste my time
Won't read a magazine"

This song was originally about 10 minutes long, but it was edited for inclusion on the CD.I'd love for it to be released as a single, but I think Warners has already chosen "Nothing Fails".When I hear songs like "Nobody Knows Me",it kinda makes me wish that Madonna would just do a kickass dance album...no ballads,no folksy midtempo numbers, just twelve aggressive, relentless dance tracks, all aimed at the clubs.

So,you didn't like the "American Life" video? I'm talking about the controversial first video that was pulled from release.Man,I LOVE this video! One of her Top 5 Best Videos, imo. The scene where Maddy and her dancers crash the fashion show is priceless.

I agree with you. I don't care what the next single is, just make a decent video. Hollywood was kind of cool but really, it was nothing more than Madonna hamming it up for the camera (lookin' fierce as always, too).

I really don't like the "American Life" video that much. shrug It seemed kind of contrived. I much prefer "Hollywood." I think this album would compete for her best if she had dropped the title track and released it as a 10-track album called "Hollywood."

that's really interesting. I like the song American Life, and lyrically it fits the album, but there is something incrogrous with the rest of the album. And actually, the life she is now rebelling against is much more a "Hollywood" life than a typical "American Life."

(this idea is growing on me edit)

"Hollywood" is definitely the least of her collaborations with Mondino. And I hate that pink jumpsuit/negligee -- it's about 2 sizes too big. I don't like the Rosanne Rosannadanna big hair either.

Are you serious?? That video is sheer genuis! A classic! Contrary to what you may have heard, the video is not violent or anything and no,you don't see anybody getting killed. It's just Maddy's way of depicting what happens during a war. It's all done in such a powerful, effective way and the message is vivid and clear.I was really proud of her when I first saw it,but I knew she would have taken alot of heat if it had been released.

sources from even inside WB say that there are 7+ outtakes from AL, most of them very dancey. had even a few of them made the cut, the album would have been pretty much what you're describing.

the title track has grown on me. but i don't like the original video. the parts where she's dancing in the hallways and stuff are okay, but the parts on the catwalk look totally cheap, with everthing green-screened in and layers of seperately shot things on top of each other. even the Bush look-alike looks like his head has been CGI'd on.

that said, i actually like the all-around-cheaper-looking video that was released. i mean, of course the flags look green-screened in, but i much prefer her up close and personal throughout the video. it is a piece of crap, overall, but i feel like the original one wasn't of much better quality. and that water-canon stuff was just stupid.

I agree- the video for "American Life" is not one of my favorites- either version. And you're right- the dancing in the hallway is the only decent part. nod I think part of the reason I hate the song so much is that it ruined the promotion of the album. I think "Hollywood" would have had a much better reception had people not been let down with the title track.

nuts

wow, I'm just still shocked by your opinions of this, well, Aaron's more than Moonbeam's (only cos Moonbeam and I seem to enjoy the same artists but have polar opposite opinions on what their best work is). I honestly think the original American Life video was one of the best things she's put out. And, I could barely sit through the released version. Horribly, incredibally boring and cheap looking...

Yeah,I heard that,in the early stages, the album was shaping up to be a very uptempo,techno-styled dance album. But then Madonna added more slower, more "serious" tunes, and it became something entirely different.

they're both crap. but i prefer crap that knows it's crap than crap that's trying really hard to be something grand.

"sources from even inside WB say that there are 7+ outtakes from AL"

And I know of at least five of them...

***"Adverse Youth"---a ballad

***"Bad Nature"---no details on this song

***"Can't You See My Mind"---months ago,we heard that this song was an early version of "Die Another Day".But that apparently is not the case.

***"Mind Trapper"---no details on this song, but it's probably an uptempo track

***"My Ejector"---an uptempo track that sounds very much like "American Life"

Another song title that keeps surfacing is "Forbidden Fruit",but I keep hearing conflicting reports about it.
