Hahaha I went to see Cher.

First the details.

My brother has co-worker friend, colleague etc. who works part time security at southern Cal venues. He calls an ssks me and my better half if we want to go see Cher for free this weekend. He goin thru some personal things and he and a coworker have ben doing things such as a work group such as concerts from work..she was down for Cher go figure….brother didn’t want to exactly go alone with her as a date so me and my better half said yeah. Never been to a been there for 10 years Pavillion concert center yet, and free, and just to trip hehe. Turns out I had lots of work to do and started feelin malaise. Plus he told me yeah he could get us in..lawn tickets..lawn? Oh how I dnt wanna go now anywaysMy better half couldn’t go and I wanna stay home. I tell him and he disappointed. I say funk it dammit I will go alone since I did give the heads up that I would go. Well we all get it together sans missus and have to eat at a sit down restaurant at after 6 already. I’m like shoot..this AM-PM stuff isn’t good enuff for you? We are late and I like to people watch at concerts while I’m waiting...Then while getting terribly slow and bad service I find out Cyndi Lauper may be opening…damn it. lets go. Then I accidentally say to a person wearing a Cher t shirt at the restaurant and she goes for one half hour with her two friends…she drunk and so is the other…but the other two are not fans and think its ridiculous to see Cher, raggin throughout the drunken mexican food dinner...I agree..I feel them etc…anyways…we get to the concert and here my looped azz is full of cadillac margaritas, smirnoff black ice and a brew..carrying blankets for my brothers “date” and he’s carrying too etc up to see Cher in the grass. Im also thinking “every gay person in my little Inland Empire” gonna be here tonight lol. Its gonna be a Party lol.We get to the gate and disperse our brews we were drinking up the mountain climb entrance..turns out the security friend got us orchestra seats...all a sudden my azz is excited to se Cher...orchestra muthafunkas. He becomes my new bestest friend. We still gotta take th e blankets cuzz we aint about to go back to the car and again but who cares...I gots orchestra.

Well we go to our seats and the lights went down and she starts with U2’s Still haven’t Found What Im Lookin For all discoed up—or Cher-ed up. Of course the stage is a spectacle..she sngs some jams from her old days like Gypsies Tramps…Dark Lady real quick ( with the cartoon playing form the old S&C show—I remember that cartoon!). Bang Bang etc…the thing is she kept using old footage in between songs..she’d take like 5 minutes between each batch of songs so it seemed like 25-30 minutes of filmed material! Then the time…she came on at 9 and finished…at 10:15. One hr and fiteen minutes? Whoo boy I know there were a lot of angry queens upinthere lol. I mean I was even pissed with free tickets……muthafuckstress! But it was cool to see all she’s been in etc..and memories of her variety show ( they showed her with Tina, and everyone else you forgot about..and she was also doing her Cher show character that was reminiscent of Lilly Tomlin’s phone operator character...the one with that voice and glasses always chewing gum). But all n all it was a trip seein her and hearing her repertoire which was good…everybody loved her and her stage banter “watch this bitches” referring to showing Britnay and Christina how its done etc. She was very funny and recognized her gay following with her “ladies sand gentlemen...and flamboyant gentlemen..” banter lol. All n all it was a pretty cool show…oh she sang that I Found Someone To Take Away The Heartache….and If I Could Turn Back Time song which was actually jammin etc...she wore that battleship destroyer video getup to that song –I could se her ass tats…and when she sang the If I Could Turn Back Time part, she would point out with her arm to the syllables of the song and all the audience were pointing out to emphasize those parts right back to her ..it looked like a Metallica concert audience doing that…except smartly dressed with tight shirts on. All n all it was actually a good show. I’m glad I went. I can now say I’ve seen Cher in concert lol. Yeah that’s right hahaha.

Check this..at the dinner, the date said Lauper was opening. We had not worried aboutnthe opening act..but whn I heard she was opening I got hyped..I was lik "oh damnn..fuck this enchilada order etc we shold jet to the concert" heheh. When we got there we heard a lot of disco songs being played--old school. I asked and they said "there was no opening act" so I wasn't as miffed.

I saw Cher twice last year, and Cyndi Lauper was the opening act for both shows. The entire show was amazing. Not surprisingly,my favorite part was when she performed her 1979 Disco hit "Take Me Home".To those of you who missed this tour,it is now available on DVD,and there's also a Live CD.

or just go see her again, since she's added another leg and doing a farewell to the farewell tour tour biggrin

btw, is it just me, or has she been doing the same show, non-stop (with very minor changes) for 4 years now? the farewell tv performance i saw was identical to the one that was on HBO a few years ago, and the show i saw in 99 biggrin

not that i mind, great show, but still... change it up... just a little. i don't want her to be Janet Jackson dragging the same tired shit on the road for 10 years biggrin

I didn't see her tour in '99,but alot of people say that her new show is very similiar to that tour.I loved the two shows that I went to,but I have only one complaint...

Her 'Living Proof' CD is EXCELLENT,it's even stronger than 'Believe'.So,why didn't she include more songs from it? Especially since this tour is called "The Living Proof Farewell Tour".She really should have added these songs to the setlist...

"The Music's No Good Without You"
"Rain,Rain"
"A Different Kind Of Love Song" (this was actually performed at some recent shows, but not at the two shows that I went to)
"Real Love"
