Your overall opinions on the VMAs!

Just like most of the other threads...After Madonna came out I could've cared less about the rest of the show. :LOL:

But there were a few other highlights..I think.

MADONNA : Nobody does it better! worship

Coldplay: I love that group. Nice performance. Wish it was a bit longer though. One of the few acts who actually deserved a VMA.

Beyoncé : Great performance. Go ahead with your bootylicious self.

Missy Elliot : Finally recognized! A true video artist.

Metallica : headbang on the first part. Wasn't
feeling their last song though.

DuranDuran : Deserved a better presentation. Along with better presenters than Kelly Osbourne and Avril LeUgly!
I felt they were almost disrespected. disbelief

Good Charlotte : Great Performance.

Snoop : Why did he appear on stage with 50 sh*t? I'll forgive him this once. :LOL:

Eminem Why does he even exist? barf

Mary J. Blige : I like her music and her new cd is great...BUT! She's perhaps on of the most self-aggrandizing people around. Definitely not a live performer imo! Get a good stylist and better wigs! Boring as usual.

Chris Rock : Funny at times, but predictable as usual. Jimmy Fallon come back!

50 Cent : bored and unoriginal. Oh wait..he's Eminem's puppet right? Figures!

Justin Timbernotalent : Best dance video!?! :DISBELIEF: You were given movements. You are NOT a dancer! Always acting as he's so cool and in with the hip hop crowd kissing ass. And why did they interview him with Duran Duran?
Talk about adding insult to injury! no no no!

Overall I'd say that only about 5 acts actually deserved their awards last night. MTV in the last 10 years stopped being about music, and even more so about videos. Just find the top 10 acts of the year and showcase them. Rap videos all look the same. Not much to them. Except for Missy and even P.Diddy. 20 years, and this is what you have to show for it? rolleyes Besides a couple of highlights and Madonna once again saving MTV's tired ass; I could've been watching the discovery channel! :LOL: Just my twocentstwocents

And yours? wink

I wasn't ecpecting much and after the kick-ass opening, I knew it was down hill from there, but 2 things REALLY disappointed me...

1) The dance video category...to me, none of the nominees really belonged in this category. They are pop-artists, not dance artists...I dunno, maybe it's my techno bias, but I thought that category was a laugh

2) Mary J Blige...I LOVE her and she's moved me to tears at her shows, BUT last nite's performance with all of her moves and the costume change was all style and no substance. Mary typically, IMO, can pull off both, but last nite's performance was sad.

Beyond that, I was happy that Coldplay and Missy won as their videos are very creative...the rest of the show was just what I expected... kinda bland kinda boring, but hey...that's MTV for you

:CLAP: Exactly. I would've given that to Beyoncé or Missy. People who actually can dance!

It's about friggin time Duran won an award. It sucks that their presentation got all fucked up. I'm assuming they were going to do some kind of tribute montage? I heard it on the internet. I don't have cable. sad

They should've at least had Duran Duran play a medley of their hits and a new song and cut acts like 50 cent and Christina's same exact routine she does at every show.

It sucked bigtime. MTV is a disgrace.

Justin Timberlake wins best Male? a sign of no respect towards the great johnny cash.

every 5 seconds they showed the stupid heads of eminem and 50 cent.

Britney kissing Madonna? another one for the books i guess. fuck em!

There is a song by Beck: MTV makes me wanna smoke crack.

INDEED, it does.

Madonna saved it. biggrin For Madonna alone, it was better than any of the past 10 years, but that isn't saying much. lol Missy taking the cake was great too, as was Duran Duran finally being recognized. However, the only performance that I enjoyed was the first one.

===
Yeah...women feeling up on each other is great, but really now. Hollywood is such a lame song. Whoopy do! Madonna is slutty! Big News!
===

Coldplay: I love that group. Nice performance. Wish it was a bit longer though. One of the few acts who actually deserved a VMA.

===
Ben Folds Five? I actually like them both, nothng to shit my pants over, though
===

Beyoncé : Great performance. Go ahead with your bootylicious self.

===
Bah...lipsynch. Some of the dancers were hot. I like how Beyonce actually looks her age though, compared to her other peers.
===

Missy Elliot : Finally recognized! A true video artist.

===
I like the song, like the video. Glad it got recognition.
===

Metallica : headbang on the first part. Wasn't
feeling their last song though.

===
The Medley was kinda cool, and you could tell they were going out of thier way to rock it hard hard hard. The way a cover SHOULD be done. I was REALLY feeling thier last song though. Another fine creation in my book
===

DuranDuran : Deserved a better presentation. Along with better presenters than Kelly Osbourne and Avril LeUgly!
I felt they were almost disrespected. disbelief

===
Not that I feel that Duran Duran is all that, but what they did with Videos DOES deserve better than that lame half ass attempt at the Video Vanguard "suprise"
===

Good Charlotte : Great Performance.

===
Yeah...this is every high school band I've ever heard jamming in thier garage when I was driving through their suburbs.
===

Snoop : Why did he appear on stage with 50 sh*t? I'll forgive him this once. :LOL:

===
Because there is a Remix with Snoop on PIMP that is making the rotations. This wasn't out of the blue.
===

Eminem Why does he even exist? barf

===
Whatever. Game recognize game I suppose.
===

Mary J. Blige : I like her music and her new cd is great...BUT! She's perhaps on of the most self-aggrandizing people around. Definitely not a live performer imo! Get a good stylist and better wigs! Boring as usual.

===
Yeah, this sucked. She's too grown up to be showing her off like a hood milf.
===

Chris Rock : Funny at times, but predictable as usual. Jimmy Fallon come back!

===
He gets the barbs in and gets out of the way of the show. Sounds like a good host to me. Not that Fallon is bad.
===

50 Cent : bored and unoriginal. Oh wait..he's Eminem's puppet right? Figures!

===
He's hot because he reminds people of themselves and people they hang out with. And the tunes are hotly produced.
===

Justin Timbernotalent : Best dance video!?! :DISBELIEF: You were given movements. You are NOT a dancer! Always acting as he's so cool and in with the hip hop crowd kissing ass. And why did they interview him with Duran Duran?
Talk about adding insult to injury! no no no!

===
He IS a dancer. Recognize.

I agree, after Madonna, everything else was forgettable.

But here are my thoughts:

MADONNA As always, she rose to the occasion and made the night memorable.

BRITNEY I'm really not a Britney fan. But, I can clearly see that she hopes to be a reincarnation of Madonna. And she's doing it well but there's such a lack of originality with her music overall. Once she finds her distinct creative personality, she'll be fine. She does know how to work the stage with confidence. So, I wish her well. She was actualy a pleasure to watch and did sing the song as well as Madonna used to (even though sighs and groans were annoying and awkward. Her lover needs to teach her how to do that properly.

Christina Her solo performance was also hot and very good. Still, I wish her stylist would help her put together a more becoming look. Her black hair tone is too dark, so is her lipstick and other garish make-up. She needs to tone everything down. A shade of brown might be her color. I know there's beauty under there. She's a sweet girl but looks awful these days. Also, I'm glad she gained some pounds. She looked great.

Coldplay: not a fan. I almost went to sleep.

Beyoncé I am a HUGE Beyonce fan and have a tape of all her solo performances, She is one of the most dynamic live performers I've seen in a long time. But tonight, I was sooo disappointed.

And since Chris Rock made the Seabiscuit comment, let's start with the hair. She has pretty long hair of her own. Why did she wear that very obvious awful weave and try to throw it around. If you're trying tp protect your hair from celebrity mega heat-styling damage and need to get a weave, get a high quality one.

You don't see Tyra Banks and Britney's tracks. Damn! Also, why lip synch. This girl can actually sing powerfully live. Too bad she didn't let the lungs out. That so sets her apart.

Also, that damnned outfit. The pants. Oh God, Not only was the design horrible they were unflattering to her body shape. And since she's gained just a tiny bit more weight, she should have just put on a short slip dress with a plunging neckline. That way she could be sexy and cover her stomach. It looked strange. Anyway, I love my girl Beyonce, but that performance left me unfulfilled. I wanted her to rock it. The dramatic elements of her show were great, but the hair, the lack of singing, and the attire spoiled it.

Missy Elliot : I like Missy. Don't get all the hype surrounding her though. So, I'll just be quiet, except to note that hip-hop Penguin is not a good fashion statement.

Metallica : Great, but they know they should have ripped out a Prince song!

DuranDuran Kelly Osbourne's presentation was so annoying. Why all the yelling. And Avril's personality sucks, so I don't really care to see her ever.

Good Charlotte ummm, ok.

Snoop I hate him and the whole damn Pimp machine that exploits women as a weaker, brain-absent sex. After seeing the opening Maddy-Brit-Christina show where they explore sex without men, seeing these women flank and fawn over men who disrespect them was jarring. I hated it, as I always do. Snoop looks like a clown.

Eminem Eminem clapped in the audience several times. He clapped for Britney and Christina. He clapped for Madonna. He even clapped for Justin Timberlake. I think he's trying to get along with people more. Impressive. Now, if only he could let go of the venom on wax. I don't like when he curses and puts down people, especially women, on his records. Its especially upsetting since the boy has lyrical talent. He should have won even more props for Lose Yourself. That's an awesome song. Hey, where was his boyfriend Dre?

Mary J. Blige I don't get her hype, but I don't have anything bad to say about Mary J.

Chris Rock: You know, Chris has potential to be funny as hell. He was better last time he hosted, though. After the opening, his jokes were lame. He also gave a much better opening years ago. Still enjoyed seeing him again ... and MTV obviously told him not to make the entertainers too upset.

50 Cent: I hate everything about this thug who rakes in more money than me, a law-abiding citizen, for bragging about getting shot as a drug dealer and his life of crime. Yeah, I'm bitter. But that America has embraced what he stands for is a real shame.

On, another note, I see he brought that Vivica Fox. He's getting into the older woman trend too. She looked a little silly cheesin' and gazin' at him with her breasts hanging out and all. You can be with a younger man, but act mature.

Anyway, since Vivica was there, I was interested in seeing how 50 was going to receiving Mya when he went up to get the award. He kissed her in her hair. Sweet. What happened between them. NObody better ever hurt Mya's feelings.

Justin Timberlake Wow, I love Justin. He was trying to be smooth and charming tonight, but he was a bit off. I think seeing Britney kiss Madonna jarred him for the evening. He probably wanted to hook up just to get Madonna's leftovers last night. But he was a class act about it. Afterwards in an interview, he said he wish he would have been invited on stage for the kiss.

FRED DURST/JACK BLACK Oh my god. Could this have been funnier!

i expected a response like that. it's cool. just one question though.

you talk about how madonna is the best, coldplay is so cool, beyonce can't do nothing wrong, etc.

then you say justin timberlake has no talent.

what's wrong with this picture?

justin timberlake is now what madonna was fifteen years ago.

a young, good-looking, well-moving popartist that sings catchy songs mostly written by others.

they can entertain on top poplevel--you got to have talent for that, right?

Hello to you too purpleone. wave

That was more than one question! no no no! tease

First I'll say this. You could have said what you just did to get your point across without the name calling.
I respect your opinion and only ask that you do the same to me. So I'm not going to lash back at you. hug

I never said Beyoncé could do no wrong. There are times when she just bores me. But I enjoyed her performance.

I say Madonna is the best, because IN MY OPINION she is! How many times has she been called talentless, skank, whore, etc.???

As far as Justin Timbelake goes. No I don't like him. AS A PERFOMER. I don't know him or Eminem personally. They do what they do...and as all performers, you will have people that like you or don't. Simple as that. He may have a great talent in your eyes...but as far as what I've seen, he's doing nothing more than what someone like Usher or Ginuwine can do. (those were examples by the way.) Just like a lot of "pop" acts..I feel he's just been marketed well. To add to that...I like a couple of his group mates. J.C. and Joey , again in my opinion are much more talented. Dancing and vocally ability.

So I called him Timbernotalent. So what!?!?!?! You mean you have never put down a performer that you didn't like, or even use a name that wasn't their's to identify them by? Be honest now.

Comparing Madonna and Justin... I won't touch that. I don't and can't see the comparison. Madonna since the begining did write and produce her own songs. Or co/write co/produce..whatever.

No. Talent isn't always the element that it takes to entertain an audience. Marketing and Hype can do that just fine. I love pop music, and some of the cheesiest acts you can probably think of. On the other hand I like a lot of virtuosos as well and everything in between.

So I hope that may answer your questions. shrug
:HUG:

p.s. As far as the twelve year old comment made above... :LOL: If you were above twelve you should've be able to read that the thread title was "OPINIONS" and not a "REVIEW". And God Bless you too.

Just like a lot of "pop" acts..I feel he's just been marketed well.
