well, in fairness... she didn't sound all that different singing it than Madonna did in 1984...

This is why I'm not watching. I just seems that folks try too hard for the most memorable moment award on these award shows. sad

Sadly, the rest of the show can't possibly live up to the first 5 minutes.

Now, I just can't wait for Madonna to tour!

I thought it was going to really suck but I think it worked. Yeah, Britney can't sing (at all and Madonna did a better job back in the day then Britney did) but it was a good prefromance. Lots of fun. I also liked the fact that it was Christina A instead of JenAffleck. BTW, Madonna kissed Christina but people barely noticed becuase they panned to Justin for to long. Big mistake.

if people weren't doing that, then we would be bitching because it's boring.

Nothing wrong with that. Isn't that what MTV is there for...people pushing for attention?

back when mtv first started up it wasn't. at one point in time it actually had music on it all the time. they may as well just completely drop the 'm' and just call it 'tv', cuz it's just a shell of its former self now.

people bitch and moan about MTV not playing videos anymore, but when they do show videos, people don't watch. they can only draw ratings with Real World, Road Rules, Punkd, Cribs, etc. think about it... when's the last time you sat down and watched 30 minutes of videos back to back? apply that to the rest of the viewing public, and it's easy to see why they show more non-video programming than videos.

s'kinna hard to watch any videos when the majority of their programming now consists of crappy shows.

simple--i used to have digital cable and i'd watch vh-1 classic for hours.

actually, it isn't. about a year and a half ago MTV played 6-hour blocks of videos both day and night, and you know why they stopped? no one was watching.

i guess some folks might've been watchin...like night owls or crack-heads or insomniacs or whoever else. evillol plus i figure they simply had to make more room for other programming, not just because nobody wuz watchin the shit...

no, in fact they cleared the schedule during primetime to play videos. no one watched, so they went back to shows...

Videos are designed to get attention. Regardless of what the airplay consists of, MTV's sole purpose (from the 'artists' standpoint) is for attention and sales. Madonna used the network to her full advantage last night.
