TRON

3rd single from "American Life" by Madonna

will be "Nothing Fails". Warner Bros. just confirmed that the single will go to radio in the coming weeks.

Yay!

Its one of the best songs from that cd, I think. Maybe it will get some well deserved airplay!

I LOVE that song. God, I cannot believe that a Madonna album FLOPPED! It's SUCH a shame...

For real. What's a legend gotta do to get a hit these days?

I hope this track gets some play, if nothing else on some 'adult-contemporary' stations

it makes me sad how utterly ignored this album has been...

Make a halfway listenable single. The whole of American Life is very weak by Madonna standards...

It's by far the best song on the album and should work better than AL and H(which did nothing!). I was thinking "Hollywood" might get attention after the VMAs but if the Gap commericals didn't help..."Nothing Fails" sounds like the kind of song that even Clear Channel can't ignore. Big dance songs aren't really hitting and "Nothing Fails" is a pop ballad with bite and could work. Too bad everyone that wants a single out is to Bush radio.

Yes,it's a shame but let's put it all in perspective. In twenty years,Madonna has released sixteen albums (if you count her movie soundtracks and compilations),and only *ONE* of her albums ('American Life') can truly be called a "flop".Most longtime artists (Prince,MJ,etc) have several flop albums in their resume but Madonna only has one. That's quite impressive.Take a look at how all of her albums have fared...

***Madonna (1983)---8.4 million ( total worldwide sales)
***Like A Virgin (1984)---18.5 million (total worldwide sales)
***True Blue (1986)---19 million (total worldwide sales)
***Who's That Girl Soundtrack (1987)---4.7 million (total worldwide sales)
***You Can Dance (1987)---5.2 million (total worldwide sales)
***Like A Prayer (1989)---13 million (total worldwide sales)
***I'm Breathless (1990)---5.4 million (total worldwide sales)
***The Immaculate Collection (1990)---23 million (total worldwide sales)
***Erotica (1992)---5 million (total worldwide sales)
***Bedtime Stories(1994)---6 million (total worldwide sales)
***Something To Remember (1995)---8 million (total worldwide sales)
***Evita Soundtrack (1996)---11 million (total worldwide sales)
***Ray Of Light (1998)---14.5 million (total worldwide sales)
***Music (2000)---13.5 million (total worldwide sales)
***GHV2 (2001)---5 million (total worldwide sales)
***American Life (2003)---4 million (total worldwide sales)

So,as you can see,her career is fine. Some albums have sold more than others, but I challenge you to name another longtime pop artist who has sold records this impressively and consistently.Even 'American Life' managed to move over 4 million copies around the world, without having a huge hit single. When you think about it,Madonna was probably DUE for a flop record, considering how much success she's had in the past.

Even great songs do not always become hits.A few Madonna singles like "Bad Girl" and "Human Nature" didn't become huge hits, even though those songs are excellent imo.

I think this single will vanish without a trace, unless she makes a good video.

Although age shouldn't matter, I think the dance industry now thinks shes too old.

I think she should work on an album that allows her to continue to sell to an older audience now.

She should focus on styles like "Secret". Aim for the generation cross over. I semi acoustic sound should do it.

I disagree. In fact,Madonna's most loyal audience is probably the dance music crowd. Her maxi-singles and remixes routinely go to the top of the Dance Music charts.

No matter what she decides to do next,I think she would never neglect her dance music audience. For her, that's where it all started.Even if she were to do an album of ballads (not a bad idea, actually),I'm sure she would have dance remixes available too...lol

I seriously doubt it did with 4 million sales world wide. Personally I think it's her best album in years. The lyrics are honest and the music is pretty good too.

You wish. It spent four months in the top 40. Which isn't great, but then the promotion ended after Butterflies was released to radio.

A CD that costs $30 million to make is gonna be considered a flop if it doesn't sell at least 15 million copies.

It didn't cost $30 million. It went to no.1 in 14 countries and has sold close to 9m. On the back of just two singles I don't consider that a flop.
