In the latest issue of Sister 2 Sister magazine (with Lil Mo on the cover),there is a brief article on Meshell that talks about her upcoming plans.Accordign to this article, she is currently working on two new albums. The first one is R&B and reggae and might be released by year's end, while the second one is jazz.

I really want to hear this JAZZ record. Me'shell once said that she had some songs in her vaults. She said amongst those tracks in the vaults, was a pure full-length jazz album. So I'm really curous now.

I just read on matthew's site (www.freemyheart.com) that her R&B/reggae album should be out Oct. 14? and the jazz album (w/cassandra wilson, lelah hathaway!! cool) due next January/Feb 2004?
I saw her show recently, and while I *really* dug the new reggae tracks.. overall, it was very mellow. Think Bitter. I wanted her to tear it up again like she did on Cookie. Oh well, I'll go see her again in October.

I'm loving the tracks I'm hearing from Meshell's forthcomer. "Andromeda & The Milky Way" has a beautiful vibe to it and I'm feeling her Dolly Parton cover "Two Doors Down."

Meshell's albums are usually always pushed back from their original release date. So...I'd be surprised if it's released on schedule. This post not for the wimp contingent. All whiny wusses avert your eyes.

I agree with Anemone: the tour is very disapointing, so mellow that it gets very boring at times, even if it was beautiful at others. Many people in the crowd seem to feel the same way. She's definitely not a showman (woman), and I even wonder whether she is into depression (she wore a hat so large that you could never recognise her, left the front of the stage 80% of the time and basically had her show stolen by the guy on synths)
And I'm a big fan, have all her albums and even think Bitter was really beautiful.

Oh well, I'll go see her again in October. I've seen Meshell live twice. Once at the Roxy in Hollywood and once at St. Andrews in Detroit (both in the same year). Her show at the Roxy was lively and had a transcendent vibe. I was literally tearing up because the musicianship was so beautiful. Plus she did cool interpretations of her past songs and Cookie was hot off the presses so there was the energy of that entire album in the tour. The following show at St. Andrews in October was nice. I was grooving along to the music, but not as hard as the first time I saw her. Meshell always comes through with the music and her band is always shining. I don't expect to see some elaborate, highly-choreographed spectacle a la Janet Jackson with pyrotechnics and costume changes. It's Meshell Ndegeocello. She's her own artist and she's not trying to pander to MTV or anything and I like that about her. Sometimes I just want to go to a concert and catch a vibe and get into a moment. So more power to Meshell and I will see her on tour in the future.
