Saw tonight on the Best Damn Sports Show Period that Britney Spears will star in the remake of the movie FOOTLOOSE in the Kevin Bacon role. What is it with all these young artists and the constant covers, remakes, samples, ect. of songs, videos, and movies?

J-Lo doing her video cover of Flashdance - Beyonce's video of her doing a Tina Turner impersonation - Ashanti and JaRule with their Grease remake video which was beyond awful.

There are so many other examples but you get the idea. Now we find out Mary J. is doing another in her long list of covers by doing a J5 song. I guess she used up all of Elton's already. Either we get music that all sounds the same because everyone uses the same 4 or 5 producers who in turn use the same 4 or 5 notes for every song. Or we get songs that are heavily sampled, covers, or outrite rip-offs of classic songs that these "artists" really should just not touch. My favorite was a while back when I read that Britney wanted to do a cover of Purple Rain.

Is nothing sacred anymore?

Some gossip column on Teletext said Flashdance. Footloose is more believeable, and generally a better film. The Flashdance stuff has been played out already what with the Geri Haliwell and J'Lo music videos.

LMAO @ any rumour of Britney covering Purple Rain. I think I'd personally smash her face in if she ever did that. Oh the HORROR just imagining it.

No, I am aware of that LeAnn Rimes cover too. Britney's desire to do it was I believe from a interview she did where they were talking about her cover of "I Can't Get No Satisfaction" by the Stones following her performance of it on the VMAs. They were discussing the fact that she does one cover on every album. The interviewer asked her what other artists or songs she liked and she mentioned she loved "Purple Rain" by Prince as a possability for her next album.

It was also discussed here on the Org. at the time and comments were not to good, obviously.

a bit lame it is still being brought up.

& Britney isnt doing PR...she is doing NC2U 4 her next album.
