Michael Jackson Goes Willy Wonka, Invites Outsiders To Tour

The best known crib in all the pop world, Michael Jackson's Neverland Ranch, is opening its doors to outsiders ... well, at least to the ones who have an invitation and $5,000.

Jackson is billing the September 13 open house as a "once in a lifetime" event. Those invited to the property in Los Olivos, California, just north of Santa Barbara, will get access to Neverland's amusement park, zoo, gardens, arcade and movie theater and will be served lunch and dinner.

"From the moment you enter the gates ... you will wish that this day could last forever," the invitation reads. "Be one of the privileged few who have ever personally experienced this extraordinary and magical oasis."

Guests will also get limited-edition posters by Miami artist Romero Britto, who had previously designed the cover art for Jackson's never-released charity single, "What More Can I Give," which was to benefit victims of September 11 (see "Did Porn, Sony Or McDonald's Sink Jackson Charity Single?"). The posters show vibrant colors and imagery of a "ribbon of hope" surrounded by hearts. Britto's work will be on display, since the event is also being billed as a tribute to him.

With tickets priced at five G's, Jackson stands to make more than $1 million from the event. But not all of it will go in his pocket — Jackson plans to donate $1,000 per person to three charities, including the Make-A-Wish Foundation; Oneness, which promotes multiculturalism in the arts and education; and E Ai Como E Que Fica, which benefits impoverished children in Rio de Janeiro, according to a statement released Tuesday (August 26).

This is ridiculous! If I have to pay $5,000 to hang out with a celebrity,it had better be Madonna.

Michael's Exclusive Neverland Party!

August 27, 2003
It's the hottest ticket in town, and only ET has the exclusive details! The stars will descend on MICHAEL JACKSON's Neverland Ranch for the party to end all parties, and we've got your sneak preview! Our own MARK STEINES has received an invitation and is the only reporter invited.

On September 13, Michael will host the first party he's thrown since ELIZABETH TAYLOR's 1991 wedding to LARRY FORTENSKY. Some are saying the star-studded, grand bash will outdo even the lavish Oscar® parties held in Hollywood each year, and Michael may even roll out a cake for himself, as he's celebrating his birthday August 29.

The $1,000 donation-per-ticket party will raise money for the Make-A-Wish foundation, Oneness, and pop artist ROMERO BRITTO's Brazilian charity, "E Ai Como E Que Fica?"

Sources tell ET no expense will be spared for the fest. Colorful artwork will be strewn across the sprawling landscape, dozens of performers will entertain the guests with singing, juggling and even "fire eating," and Michael will bring in a complete circus for the event. The stars can also dance the night away as the entire amusement park will turn into a hot nightclub, "Club Neverland."

When all is said and done, guests will walk away with gift bags that are reported to rival those given out to celebrity presenters at the Oscars.

Tonight on ET, get the scoop on Michael's mother of all parties!

Any truth in the rumour that for an extra $50 MJ will do a moonwalk and for a further $100 Bubbles returns for a chimp's tea party?
