1983 Top 40 Flashback: Al Jarreau- Mornin'

A superb song from one of my favorite all-time male vocalist. Al was a jazzy singer who delivers intense improvisational solos with his voice. He can emulate a horn, he can scat...There is really no limit to what he can do with his voice. On top of all this, he has a wide range. Even though jazz purists frowned upon his 80's offering, albums like This Time, Breakin Awayand the album this song is from Jarreau were excellent well rounded jazz/R&B recordings. I recommend these albums to anyone.

This is a great song to start your day with. The song is so infectious. You just find yourself singing right along to it.

Mornin' Mr. Radio
Mornin' little Cheerios
Mornin' sister Oriole
Did I tell you everything is fine...
In my mind

The bridge on this song is awesome!!! It's my absolute favorite part of this great song.

This song went to number #23 on the pop charts.

Great stuff!!!

This is my favorite A.J. song.

He's touring Europe this year from what I understand.

I hear that song every morning on a Smooth Jazz station. It's definitely one of those morning songs that gets you going.
"Funkyslsistah… you ain't funky at all, you just a little ol' prude"!
"It's just my imagination, once again running away with me."

This is one of the most smoothest contemporary jazz songs ever written. I love the Jarreau album along with it's predicessor, Breakin' Away.

Funny you should start this thread because just the other day,I bought his greatest hits CD.It contains these songs...

"THE BEST OF AL JARREAU" (Warner Bros,1996)

Compared to What
Goodhands Tonight
Agua De Beber
Take Five
Spain (I Can Recall)
Never Givin' Up
Roof Garden
We're In This Love Together
Mornin'
Boogie Down
Moonlighting (theme)
Since I Fell For You
After All
So Good
Heaven And Earth
Like A Lover

It looks like a cool compilation, although it's missing the 1981 song "Breakin Away",which I love. But at least it contains my two favorite songs by him: "We're In This Love Together" and "So Good".

Yeah, it's a good overview of his 80's hits. "So Good" is one of my favorite by him. That whole Heart's Horizon album is pure greatness Davideye. You should check out the whole album if you haven't already. That album was one of the best records of 1988... IMO.
