Classic R&B song of the day: "Jealousy" by The Mary Jane Girls (1983) Who remembers the first Mary Jane Girls album? Produced by Rick James,it's a fun, classic album filled with memorable gems. One of the best tracks is "Jealousy",a charming New Wave-styled track with lead vocals by Ann "Cheri" Bailey...
"just look at me can't you see these teardrops falling from my eyes? don't you agree that you should have never said good-bye?" More pop than funk, this song was released as the fourth single from the album (after "CandyMan","All Night Long" and "Boys").Surprisingly,it bombed as a single.I've always felt that,if it had a video,it would have been an MTV smash. Not really ringing a bell with me right now. I will see if I can find it tonight.
One of my favorites of the Mary Jane Girls is "Candy Man". Love that song even today. By the way, thanks for the old school R&B posts. RnB from the 70's and 80's is my favorite type of music. I am convinced Beyonce's career would not be where it is, if she had dark skin. | |
