Yolanda Adams This vocalist sings and performs gospel, but is known to mix it up a little bit {diving into jazz and R&B styles}. She can sing with authentic power one moment and sing as soft as a whisper the next. She has made some very interesting albums. Songs From The Heart and Mountain High...Valley Low {which has some production work from Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis...also this album includes her big R&B crossover hit "Open My Heart"} are standout albums. Like Kirk Franklin, she has been harshly criticize for lacing her music with a lot of R&B and other secular styles outside the realm of gospel, but she is a very talented vocalist{kind of in the vein of a Whitney Houston}. She is currently under attack by the gospel community for touring with Najee. A great anointed woman of gospel who is blessed with a captivating voice.

I feel the gospel community should be glad tht she is trying to reach out to all us 'heathens'. What's wrong with her touring with Najee? His music doesn't even have words so why is that a problem? I love her a lot. Her music speaks to my soul. I love Through The Midst Of It All, and my favorite song featuring her is My Liberty with The Southeast Inspirational Choir. I think she was about 19 when she did that song.
