Medeski, Martin and Wood! I was able to catch them last night at goose Island fest in Chicago! It was an incredible show. It's rare to see a band technically sophisticated and funky at the same time. These guys would take music way out, where one would think it would be impossible to put it back together but they managed to do it each time and stop on a dime. Everyone was representing on their instrument, there are no slackers among these three. If you ever get a chance to see them live GO! You won't be dissapointed, well you won't if you like to witness incredible musicians playing some of the funkiest and abstract music ever created. My only gripe with the fest was that Tortise and Pharcyde were on the bill and I missed them
If you've never heard of these cats run out and buy "Shackman" that's one of their best releases

I have two of their albums. both start off real strong but fade into an obscure and bizare mess. I like them and would love to see them live, but their albums get a little too bizare at times and make me yearn for the funk. "I'm here to chew bubblegum and kick ass, and I'm all out of bubblegum"

Yeah they've been doing a lot of that lately, I guessing you don't have shackman. I know some of it sounds like a mess, but trust me those cats are on the job! They did a lot of that free form shit live and it was slamming! It has a totally different vibe live, you reallized that it's just not noise, it actually has a purpose and somewhere in there someone knows where the one is.

You don't know how fortunate you are to live in such a cool city.

They do a version of Cross Town Traffic that's a must hear. Kazaa ASAP, it's funky.

I know I destroyed the spelling of the other man's name. I'm a dim-wit - edit [This message was edited Tue Aug 19 19:09:42 PDT 2003 by Slave2daGroove]
