Every Bowie album from 1969-1983 is good. After that it's all shit. That is all you really need to know.

If you don't like the music, then you need to do more drugs. It'll get much better soon. I promise

Bowie isn't known for being honest or open in his writing. He's very ironic and intelligent but rarely do you get to see or feel what's really going on.

That's interesting. I don't really quite GET all of his lyrics, because I think they can be hard to fully grasp for non-native English people, but I had the opposite impression.
But I'll believe you and try to get into it some more.

they're very often hard to grasp for native English speakers as well. in fact, i think half of the appeal is that you don't know what the fuck he's talking about half the time, but it sounds very cool and like it's supposed to mean something very deep biggrin

I don't know anything from 1980-1999 yet, but you also don't dig, let's say "Heathen"? I can't really comment on "hours..." right now, as I have not heard it for quite some time, but "Heathen" is good, IMO.

he doesn't know what he's talking about. disregard.

Aaron, how can I be wrong about something that is so subjective? And what's up with telling someone to 'disregard' my opinion just because you don't agree with it? IMHO Bowie's output after Let's Dance has been horrible, and I'm being honest. I have owned all of the albums at one point. As far as I'm concerned Bowie stopped being a trendsetter and became what he is now known as, a 'chameleon', blending in with whatever trendy styles came along, as soon as those styles faded out of popularity the albums sounded like shit (remember when he was touring with Reznor? Just about 5/6ths of the audience would leave after the NIN set was over). Check out his 2002 remake of Conversation Piece, it was almost revolting hearing him take such a beautiful song and spitting it out as an airy pop tune.
Personally . I think we are all Boring with No Lives cause all we do is talk about Prince,Criticize and Gossip. I need a Horny Man is what I Need and probably so do most of yas. We are Sexually Frustrated what we R... Amen..!!! - zelaire

Funny as 'Outside' is the album I'm currently feeling most.

And I think the new 'Conversation Piece' trumps the original by far.

I never understood people that diss Bowie's 90's output. It's like saying Prince was pure shit during the decade. I just don't see it.

you have GOT TO BE kidding. for that last part alone. the remake of Conversation Peace is absolutely stunning, and gives the song the introspective tone that it should have had from the beginning.

as for the rest... if you think Let's Dance is better than Heathen, then I was correct in telling the other person to disregard your opinion as being incorrect. Subjective is subjective after all...

TRON, I actually started to write a screenplay based on the Outside album. AND...I wrote a two-act musical based on the Ziggy Stardust album when I was in high-school. Oh, it was SOOO BAD!!! I found it last year and was like, "WHAT was I thinking??" I'm sure Bowie would find it amusing, though.

Put it this way--there's a scene where these grunge, punk kids are singing "Lady Stardust" to tell all of their friends about this NEW rock star named Ziggy.
