I took pics at the Tori Concert!

For all my Tori buddies here at the org...

Check this out!

My friend had these binoculars with a built in digital camera.
The pics aren't the best quality but some came out pretty cool!

Each camera could take 90 pics and about half of them turned out decent enough to save.
I photoshoped them a bit here and there.

Sorry guys, I think too many people are trying to check them out. I may have to take them down. I didn't want to sad For now I will just take the link down. Please, if you see them you can right click and save, but do not post them anywhere using the [img] code. That might be the problem. Thanks!

You must have had a wonderful night. She's simply incredible
live. I always love the live boots. Haven't been to see her
in the flesh yet, but next chance I get I'll go. No matter
if there's 15 ft of snow.

Nice photos! I just saw her for the 30th time when she was in L.A. a couple weeks ago. If you go to http://www.hereinmyhead.c...index.html
you can download her doing Purple Rain at the Minneapolis show.

Father Lucifer
Wednesday

(Band Leaves)

Silent All These Years
Merman
A Case Of You

(Band returns)

(2nd Encore)

Space Dog
Tear In Your Hand

Wampum Prayer- same as on the SW tour shows... you could hear a pin drop.

A Sorta Fairytale- of course the crowd went nuts when she came out...she looked SO GOOD! Whatever dress/jeans/heels combo-thingy she was wearing (lol, it's becoming her trademark apparel) just totally agreed with her. The wind was blowing a bit, and her hair was flowing as she stood to double-wave us, then crossed the stage in her adorable dancey way to assume her position at her piano bench. Sean and I both agreed that ASF sounded a bit different...like she pumped it up a bit, but I don't know how to explain it...it was the best I've ever heard it, though, that's for sure. She started off with the most incredible energy, and really kept it going throughout the night after this.

God- I was feeling God, the song, might be coming right when she started this...it was weird! The very best and most memorable part for me was on "why you always go when the wind blows" ...she sounded so damn good! Her voice totally filled the air and it echoed in just the perfect way. On 'if you decide to make the sky fall' she started rocking out a bit, giving us a hint of more rockin' to come later...

Pancake/Ohio- Pancake is one of both mine and Sean's favorites and we've seen it done at EVERY show and it NEVER gets old. But I was FREAKING OUT when she did the Ohio part b/c I've never seen her do it live that way. It's AWESOME! She ommitted the "Oh Zion...vortex" part of the song and sat down at the Bosey and inserted Neil Young's melody and lyrics at that part of the song instead:
gotta get down to it
soldiers are gunning us down
should have been gone long time ago
what if you knew her
and found her dead on the ground
how can you run when you know?
Sean said my mouth dropped and I was like a statue watching her do this...Sure, whatever he says...I don't remember b/c I was a statue. Definitely a highlight of the night.

Siren- Just as I was getting over the thrill of pancakes with a side of ohio, she stunned us with Siren! My husband, a manly man, was giddier than a schoolgirl. This is one of the 3 songs he was hoping Tori would play. It was our first time hearing this live and OMG...it was so beautiful. (It occured to me at this point that many people around us seemed not to know this song...it's unfortunate when the lukewarm Tori fans get bored and start chattering or moving about during songs that hard-core toriphiles like myself have been waiting years to hear her sing. Booo!)

Mrs. Jesus- I've heard this at 4 out of our 5 shows and each time it sounds better! I absolutely love how soft and quiet she gets at the end.

Cornflake Girl- To wake us up after the soft ending of Mrs Jesus, she belted this out in traditional form. The entire theater was dancing in their seats. I know some fans are slightly tired of this song being done live, but I'd watch it a zillion times to see her do that piano solo...she never ceases to amaze me with it. Of course the "Prrr" thing she does is also fun and many of us did it with her, which put a big grin on her face. She had a very happy, playful spirit about her for this show...we could really see it here.

Father Lucifer- Man, oh Man. This is another favorite of mine from Pele so it's always a pleasure. She did it much richer with the band than I heard it last time. It was excellent. We were treated to her adorable middle finger right on cue when she mentioned the pizza...

Wednesday- This is the song where I said to myself...She has the most amazing f*cking voice! The "out past the fountain..." part was so beautiful and although I've heard this song several times live already, the way it travelled out to us in the open theater was just heavenly! I gotta say I was a bit skeptical about how this show would sound being an open theater, but I was never once disappointed...the acoustics were perfect. Sean has tinnitus and he usually has some kind of difficulty for at least brief moments of any show, but this one was perfect for him.

Whenever the "Roadside Cafe" sign gets turned on at a Tori show I have to take a deep breath. Glad I did, because when she started the first song without the band I nearly fainted...but first, the Tori-talk:

Silent All These Years- before she started this she told us how much they always love being 'down here' in San Diego. She said that Tash had asked "so do girls really ride on the back of dolphins and swim with them and jump through rings of fire here?" (alluding to Sea World, San Diego) and she explained how the guys in the band/crew wanted to know if that was really true...she giggled and so did the crowd. She started SATY and the crowd was cheering and Aaahh-ing simultaneously...she loved that. THIS SONG IS GORGEOUS LIVE! She sang it the way where she repeats/echos her lines on the "years go by will I still, will I still be waiting..." ---"years go by, will I choke, will I choke on my tears..." which of course leaves out some lyrics (like there are no "orange clouds", just clouds), but the effect is so interesting and refreshing and I love it that way. I will never forget after the line "Well I love the way we communicate"...she had to stop completely b/c either her mouth was too dry or too drooly...someone else on the dent who sat closer said she was having drooling issues, so that might have been it...but whatever the case, when she had to stop she let out the breathiest little giggle as if to say "oops!" and the crowd gently broke from their stupor during the song to giggle with her...it was priceless. Her eyes got so big when she had to stop that I could see them from where we were. She fixed her mouth problem within a quick second at went back to 'your eyes focus on my funny lip shape' then finished up the song very nicely. I was a blubbering mess by the end of it.

Merman- Oooh, I'm so glad she did this one. It was very soft and pretty. My first time hearing it live and it was so good that even Sean said, hey I never realized how pretty that song is!

A Case of You- I think people should be banned from leaving their seats unless they are for some strange reason bleeding-out to death or require some form of immediate and severe medical attention!! What the hell is wrong with people who get up and wander around on the lesser-known songs?! I happen to love this Joni Mitchell cover, and it was my first time hearing Tori do it, but I couldn't really tell you much about it b/c so many people were up and in my way and talking. How rude! I think Tori herself was sensing it, too. What a shame. I do remember she threw in some of her trademark "Yesss"s here and there and the whole song flowed very nicely. It's rather an emotional song, but unfortunately I couldn't feel to much emotion b/c of all the commotion.

ok...band returns...

Horses- Yowza! Horses with the band is wonderful. They were very tight together. "off with superfly..." just rocked. Really good stuff.

Concertina- This is my very favorite song off of the TVAB album so was I just a little bit happy to hear it again?! You betcha! Man, the energy she has...it's amazing. She seemed to be really enjoying herself with this one, and she was smiling a bit here and there throughout it...I remember b/c I was smiling, too. The final "clouds descending" was held a bit longer and stronger for a really nice finish. Total heaven.

Mary- Ha! I got it again! You haven't heard intensity until you've heard Tori's ferocious hi-pitched warning that "butterflies don't belong in nets"! She did all the usual 'grabbage' on the 'fill their mouths with some acid rain" line and of course the crowd went nuts. Her "la-la-la's" toward the end were so good. This song is really something live. Sean grabbed my hand on the "don't be afraid, we're just waking up, and I hear help is on the way" line b/c he knows I love it... I was wearing a PINK top, by the way. (it's a colors thing)

Rattlesnakes- !!! this was on my wishlist! I saw Matt shaking those maracas (or whatever they are...the shakey things) at the beginning of this, and heard the first few notes and I just KNEW this had to be coming. I was THRILLED! Trevor, I instantly thought of you and Sean and I were saying too bad you couldn't hear it b/c it was sooo great! (I was telepathically broadcasting it to you via live brain-satellite, though!) She did it just slightly faster than the album version, I think, but still with the slightly-somber tone about it that makes it so good. Sean thought so, too. My first time hearing it live. Surprisingly, many of the people around us were singing along with this one, especially on the "love was your great disappointment" line. I loved it.

Professional Widow- If I ever was fearful of a theater crumbling from too much energy bursting within it, it was during this song! IT WAS AMAZING! I think overall for the sheer intensity alone this was the best song of the night. The last time we heard this in Santa Barbara it was nowhere near this loud and intense. Matt was...I don't even know the word...he was just on fire with those drums! OMG. Tori was almost transformed into something else...like she was possessed, almost...she really rocked out toward the end and her hair was flipping out all over the place. Every bit of energy she put into it was mirrored back a hundred-fold by everyone else listening in the audience. The lights were going crazy...We were insane! People were standing up and dancing down up front, but up where we were everyone was still sitting. I told Sean we MUST get tix for the front row next time b/c if I have to sit through a song like that again I might have a heart attack from trying to stifle emotion. Simply put, this song ROCKED!

I Can't See New York- I do like this song, but hearing it live the past 2 times was a bit flat for me, and I'm not quite sure why. Sean loved it, though...and I always enjoy watching Jon on this one...he seems to really groove with it.

Precious Things- Ok, so this is Sean's #1 Tori song. The first time we ever went to see Tori(and Alanis) in '99 at the Concord Pavilion (that's what it was called then) we had grass seats and it was freezing...so Sean went to get us coffee and missed this song! He was standing in line out at the snack bar hearing it and he was PISSED! Ooooh, he has never forgotten that. Fortunately, though, we've been able to hear this at almost every show and everytime it's unbelievable! When she does the beginning piano the crowd goes nuts. Tori is simply amazing on this song and of course we are all singing along on the favorite lines. The 'Grrrl' was one of her best, complete with her hands busying themselves where they usually are for that bit.

at the encores...

Upside Down- I almost couldn't tell what this song was...it sounds so different with the band at first...but what a treat! I of course thought of Miranda (our favorite bluegirl) and I loved every minute of this song. My first time hearing it live...Lovely.

Liquid Diamonds- Ooooh how good is this song?! What I loved about it was how the crowd started swaying on the "I guess I'm an underwater thing..." and the whole place looked like it was moving like gentle waves in the ocean. Tori got very deep, throaty, and sassy on this song, which of course just makes it even better. And I smiled when I heard the "I hear she still grants forgiveness..." b/c I thought of fearscape/Carly and how she likes that part. I'm not sure, but I think this was the 'feedback' song...it seemed like toward the end she was getting some static, but they remedied the problem pretty quickly, thankfully. I wasn't particularly hoping for this song b/c I'd heard it before...would rather have been treated to oh, I don't know...maybe SPARK! for freaking crying out loud...but how can you complain about the pure beauty and excellence she puts into any song? I wasn't complaining.

Space Dog- OH. MY. GOD. At this point in the show, knowing it was nearly over, I knew any chance of hearing Spark was probably out the window, but hearing this song totally kept me from being bummed about that b/c it was THE BOMB! Really good energy with all 3 of them playing here and so many more smiles. Tori said something before the song about 'the navy boys' and thanking them.

Tear in Your Hand- Ahhh, one of my favorite Tori 'good-bye' songs. It was a perfect ending. Everyone was waving the one-hand goodbye along with Tori...the entire pit area rushed the stage, and the rest of us were on our feet when it was ending.

Horses was AMAZING live and with bass and drums.

Silent All These years was sooo beautiful, it made me cry.

Space Dog was killer!

Father Lucifer kicked major ASS. Kinda like the Storytellers version.

Professional Widow gave me FULL BODY CHILLS.

Liquid Diamonds was dreamy.

Yes! She sits at the grand piano and then turns around to play the Rhodes and Wurlitzer behind her. Let me find some groovy pics of her playing both.

It was amazing watching her because sometimes she would have to play both during a song and she would turn around so fast and not miss a beat! Amazing!

Oh, by the way, I didn't write this review. But I could have! It was a great show!

hey, i remember seeing ol' girl in a small town outside of philly back in 1992...not too many people in attendance since no one really knew her then (this was for little earthquakes). i still get the same feeling now, 11 years later, as i did then...if not more intense!

you go on and get juicy, baby...and never feel alone in that enthusiasm for great, soul stirring music.
