Keith Sweat Make it Last Forever I just re-purchased Keith Sweat's Make it last forever cd. The interesting thing is that there is only 8 cuts on the cd and yet I know all of them. Although Keith is whiny, I forgot how much I loved the cd.
Maybe they should go back to putting quality music on cds instead of trying to fill the cd with crap. This sond reminded me of my college days and the cds EVERYBODY owned: Guy, bobby brown, New Edition, Al B Sure and this Keith Sweat cd.

"Off on your own Girl", "Rescue Me" ~ Al B. Sure Damn. Those were the cuts. Don't make me do the Al B Sue dance. You know which one I'm talking about too. But nothing can compare to "Make it Last Forever" I don't care who or where you were that song was THE love song. It still sounds great today. A timeless classic. For some reason when I play that cd I always have to pull out the Big Daddy Kane feat.Spinderella, Laree Williams cd single of "Very Special". Spelling edit. I always wanted to know who in the heck sold "Koos Van Der Acker" clothes LOL. The title track is my favorite, very classy. Tho "New Jack Swing" stuff sounds really dated to me nowdays, the ballads on those albums turn me on like nothing else. In addition to the artists you mentioned above, I was also really digging Babyface's "Tender Lover" album, and After 7's first album. Al B. Sure's "In Effect Mode" gives me shivers (good shivers) every time I hear it. Good memories...

U're damned right people should stop loading cd's with CRAP!! Just because a disk can hold 80 minutes of music doesn't mean that it has to be full of a lot of fillers. The "Make it last..." cd and Al B. Sure both rock. Also need to get Guy's first two albums, New Edition's "N.E. Heartbreak", Boyz II Men's "Cooleyhighharmony", and the Best of Chet Atkins!

Tom said: Tho "New Jack Swing" stuff sounds really dated to me nowdays, the ballads on those albums turn me on like nothing else. Totally with ya there on those comments, Tom! New Jack SCHWING! Teddy Riley said that his production credits on this album were limited considering the hand he played in its creation (listed only as 4 tracks co-produced, yet he plays keyboard and programmed drums on it all?), which is evident now that you can certainly hear that New Jack Swing Guy sound to it.

This is the only Keith Sweat album that I really liked. His remake of "In The Rain" is great.Other noteworthy songs include the bass-heavy opener "Something Just Ain't Right",the killer slowjams "Right And A Wrong Way" and "How Deep Is Your Love".All of the songs are superb.

Thanks for the memories on this one Rhondab.....
The 3 albums to have in 1988 were Keith Sweat- Make It Last Forever Al B. Sure- In Effect Mode Bobby Brown- Don't Be Cruel Those albums produced singles that got major airplay on R&B and pop radio. Plus they had deep album cuts that radio jumped on. These were the albums to have back in the day. I thought Keith Sweat's followup record I'll Give All My Love To You was great too. Keith's first two records struck gold with the women. My two sisters used to wear those tapes and CDs out. All that begging and carryin' on.... The problem with Keith is he started to think he could produce his own music. Unfortunately, I don't think it's his thing. His production is overly simply and repetative . . . too much simple drum and synth loop. His best music was produced by Teddy Riley and Hiriam Hicks. It was more layered and interesting.
He used to be one of my favorite artists back in the day. Now, I barely recognize when he releases a new CD.

I still listen to Keith, Teddy (except his latest Blackstreet album, ACK!), Al B Sure. I agree, more quality, less quantity if it means filler. Anyone know what happend to Al B Sure?

I worked in a record store during my senior year of high school when this album was out... songs from that era do bring back memories.
I generally hate Keith, but the title trackof "Make it Last Forever" is fantastic. Ὅσον ζῇς φαίνου

Yeah, for a brother gettin' no play from the high school ladies I sure did give that tape a lot of play. Hints of R. Kelly... "You might be young but you're readyyy..." I loved all those cuts. To this day I can't listen to the original "In the Rain" without cringing a bit. Keith did it better. "How deep is your love" is easily one of the best slow jams of-- dare I say -- all time.
As far as Al and Bobby B. I loved their albums too but I don't associate the 3. I even liked Al's and Keith's follow-up albums-- can't remember Bobby's. N.E. Heartbreak, Troop, Babyface, Guy. All these R&B cats were doing good things. I don't care what people say the late 80's were good times musically.
