J. Lo says she is single!!

August 5, 2003 -- JENNIFER Lopez is dealing with the devastating failure of "Gigli" all by herself - with Ben Affleck, her co-star in life as well as on screen, hundreds of miles away.
The night before the turkey opened, she took off her engagement ring and fled the set of her movie, "Shall We Dance," in Winnipeg, Canada, for the comforts of her Los Angeles home. "Jennifer was really upset and arrived in Los Angeles on Thursday night," our spy said.
She and fiance Affleck, who's in Vancouver filming "Payback," had been spending nearly every weekend together.
J.Lo resurfaced Saturday for a photo shoot for W magazine where she was "very cranky." She later went to dinner at Koi with 15 pals, including rapper Q-Tip, and then to Shelter, where "they rang up a $9,000 bar tab" in the VIP room," a source said.
"Jennifer kept talking about the 'drama, drama, drama,' and told several people she was single before hitting the dance floor for the rest of the night. She was not wearing the engagement ring."
A pal of Lopez' denied she and Affleck have split.
Lopez might also be upset Affleck went to Brandi's Exotic Nightclub in Vancouver the night of July 17 with Tara Reid, Christian Slater and Slater's wife, Ryan Haddon.
The next day, "Entertainment Tonight" correspondent Chris Booker went to interview Affleck, but was told he was "too sick."
Booker, who dates Lopez' sister Lynda Lopez, patiently waited for a day until Affleck recuperated. The sudden illness gives credence to reports that the star was carousing into the wee hours with some of the strippers.
Meanwhile, other sources point out how strange it is that Marty Brest, who wrote and directed "Gigli," vanished so completely before it opened on Friday.
Word is that Revolution Films pushed Brest out of the picture after he got into a shouting match with producer Joe Roth outside an L.A. screening back in April. Affleck was even allowed to edit his own version of the film, said an insider.
A studio rep, however, insists that the final product was entirely Brest's vision: "Marty is a final-cut director. The film on screen is his movie."
As for the Affleck edit, the Revolution spokeswoman explains, "Ben did some edits to illustrate to Marty some of his thoughts."

"Dear Ben" from J lo's last CD

You're perfect..
Oh... perfect...

Verse 1:
I just can't control myself
I can't be with no one else
It seems like I'm addicted to the way you like to touch me
I don't think they understand
Why love at your command from
The words you speak so deep
Our bodies read
I have to have you...

Chorus:
I love you...
You're perfect
A manifestation of my dreams

You made my...
Body feel
About a million different things...

Verse 2:
I think God made you for me
A mix of passionate fidelity
Baby you're so complete
I write this song to let you know
That you will always be to me
My lust, my love, my man, my child, my friend
and my king...

Chorus

There's no way
I'd leave you
It's just not a reality

Sometimes I...
Feel like I'm...
Livin' in a fantasy...
Let the rain come down...17 days....

Before this, it was titled "Dear Chris" and before that it was "Dear Puff." Finally, her A&R was getting tired of her changing the name of the song and told her to just "Name it already!"

yes--but like all of j. lo's other romances--the break-up won't be made "official" for like another 2 months.

I admit that I will not be the least bit surprised if they do split up over this. She is such a diva and a huge pain in the ass. I used to like her a little, but I can't stand to even hear her name these days. I never liked him at all.

Affleck was cool in Mallrats and Chasing Amy, maybe that was Kevin Smiths influence as a director. Can't say i've liked anything else he's done.

As for J-Lo, delusions of grandeur spring to mind, can't remember one vaguely interesting thing she's ever done. She's a fake.

Can this tell you what I think about Ben Affleck?

.

And J.lo...well, she's still DAZED and CONFUSED.

What bewilders me the most is how the heck that movie cost over 30 million, when it clearly looks as if it could have been filmed on a low budget. That just makes no kind of sense at all, while the actors walk away with about 12 million disbelief. That's just freakin' ridiculous.

The failure of their movie proves that people are getting sick of these two.I used to like J-Lo,but she is now really annoying and badly overexposed. The two of them are always in the media, all over the tabloids, chatting it up on those entertainment shows, despite the fact that they have NO chemistry whatsoever (as the film demonstrated).J-Lo changes men the way she changes her outfits,so why should we believe that this time will be any different? They are fast becoming the new Kid Rock and Pamela Anderson...an overexposed Hollywood couple who are only famous for being famous.

Actually, the only thing the failure of the movie has proven is that people will buy anything the media tells them. Critics have been itching to trash this movie for months - almost since it was first announced as a project, they had been digging for trouble on the set, jumped on any news of rewrites or anything along those lines that might be a sign of trouble. Now, I don't plan on seeing this movie, but here is the opinion of someone who has, and it seems like the most rational approach I've read so far on Gigli:

"Like most Marty Brest movies, it could've done with some tighter editing (you could've easily cut a half hour out of "Meet Joe Black" - a movie I love, by the way - just by removing all the pregnant pauses), but I found it very in keeping with the tone of his other flicks ("Scent of a
Woman", "Midnight Run"). If people liked those, what was their problem with this one? The movie, like Ben and Jen, are just victims of a particularly nasty little backlash. Of all the reviews I read for the flick, Roger Ebert's and Joe Batalke's (in the Sacremento Bee) stood out as actual critiques of the film, that didn't resort to simple "this is the worst movie of all time" attacks. Both reviews took the position of "This movie's not great, but it's not an abortion either."

Which is largely true of most, if not all, movies.

And all the Ben and Jen blasting is about as transparent as it gets. The sheer naked aggression is astounding. Alright, fine - folks are tired of hearing about their relationship.
But who started covering it to death in the first place? Ben and Jen themselves? You think they courted it at all (outside of the Dateline piece, which was clearly a marketing tool to promote "Gigli")? No - it was the same press that's going after them with the gleeful abandon of those trenchcoat wearing high schoolers who march into school and pick off the popular kids with a small arsenal.
But let 'em shred the movie. Ben and Jen got what they wanted out of it: Ben and Jen. And everyone'll live happily ever after." -- Kevin Smith, Director

Well she did put Ben in the Jenny From The Block video, and they hadn't even been dating for that long at the time.

The only thing that I've ever liked from Jennifer Lopez was the Selena movie. But's that it. All the rest of it, the CDs, cosmetic and clothing line, and whatever I have never spent money on.

There is just waaay too much hoopla connected to her. She's really not even that talented...

Ha ha, her first major leading role and she's playing a singer, yet mimes to someone else's voice in the movie before becoming a singer herself for real.

I can be so cynical...but, I've always thought that the J-Lo/Ben hook-up was a Hollywood production. Like it was contrived in order to bring the movie publicity. The studio probably realized how much the movie sucked so they had to generate some pre-release buzz. I wouldn't be surprised if the wedding is called off. Or, if they go through with it, I give it six months, tops!

Well...no one ever really said she was...they just focus on her big as*, her curves, and who she's dating, and then they use that to sell her movies...ain't that the obvious???

What makes me laugh though is how VH1's Driven shows how the people she worked with now say how she always 'stole the show' or had the spotlight, in each of the roles she took before making it Hollywood, including her character in 'South Central', among others, and later how they mentioned how they had to edit the 'That's the way love goes' video because she was about to take the spotlight off Janet Jackson...whatever. They say all that now right...rolleyes

Oh, and it's still: . + DAZED AND CONFUSED.

I heard on the radio this morning that J-Lo and Ben are definitely OVER.

My wife says that J-Lo is striving to become the "Latina Elizabeth Taylor".
I suppose then, that the 6.1-carat pink diamond that Ben gave her is the equivalent of the 69.43-carat rock that Liz Taylor got from Richard Burton?

How can she 'strive' or even want to become her??? I think she just makes some lame decisions in how she goes about her relationships, especially with how the media surrounds her all the time...I even feel sorry for her in a way, but she needs to wake up and smell some good STRONG coffee and recover from her lapse, cause' following some old patterns just ain’t cool… disbelief
