Fleetwood Mac's Say You Will

FINALLY picked this one up over the weekend after hearing a few tunes on the radio over the past few months.

First, the Lindsay Buckingham songs rock! That dude is a master.

2nd, the Stevie Nicks songs kinda suck. I love Say You Will, but the rest of her tunes are kinda boring. Hopefully they will grow on me.

3rd, I miss Christine McVie. Her songs were always a nice balance between Lindsay's & Stevie's. She was the reason I didn't pick this up when it came out, since I didn't think it would be near as good without her...but it's not bad...but her absence is defnitely felt on the album.

Finally, I think its good, but not great. I think I would've rather have had a Buckingham solo release.

wow...i am surprised! yeah, the lyndsey songs are geat, too. i think the cd, all in all, is the best since tusk.

Stevie's songs are just not leaving an impression. I am skipping them to get to Lyndsey's. Come is incredible. Her tunes sound very similar to each other as well. Of course, this could all change the more I listen to the CD. I personally don't think the album is as good as Tango in the Night at the moment.

I like this album a great deal and I also think it's their best since Tusk. It is a tad overlong but Lindsey had a load of material as it's the first music that he's released to the public in 11 years. Stevie's material has often taken a while to grow on me but I don't think she contributed a bad song to the group until Mirage. Gypsy is the only one on that album that I really care for and I'm not fussed about any of her songs on Tango In The Night. They're not dreadful just not that good. But there's only a couple of hers on Say You Will that I don't like. I'll probably burn my own version that'll look something like this:

What's The World Coming To
Thrown Down
Red Rover (My fave of the album)
Say You Will
Peacekeeper
Come
Smile At You
Steal Your Heart Away
Everybody Finds Out
Destiny Rules
Say Goodbye
Goodbye Baby.

When Chris's album is released I'll no doubt end up burning another copy to add the best of her songs to make it more like a proper Fleetwood Mac album. I miss her, too.

That list sounds pretty good to me. Stevie had a few bad tracks. "Illume (9/11)" was so awful it almost made me through the album out the window! But "Thrown Down" and "Everybody Finds Out" makes up for it! Chirstine is supposed to release a new album? Really? Any details about a release date, producers, guests, etc?

There aren't a great deal of details concerning Christine's album. All I know is that it's due out sometime this year and that various labels are trying to get a deal with her.
There's been some talk about Billy Burnette guesting on the album.

As for 'Illume', I don't actually dislike it too much, it's just that I don't think it works too well with the other songs.

Thanks for the nod concerning my choices. wink

way to much of lindsey...One or two to many from stevie...

and Christine is sorely missed...her piano playing is what glues everyone else's elements...

without it, while i enjoy the album as a whole...i just stopped listening to it..

One of my favorites is from the bonus disc the cover of Bob Dylan's "Love Minus Zero", Lindsey just nails that song.
