Fie!!! headbang Even though I prefer the original. That cat in the background doesn't bring anything to the song.

Anyone else notice the "Dead Prez African heritage color stripes?" wink

"The block on lock, the trunk stay locked!"
"The glock on cock, the block stay hot!"

Yeah, she's been a part of them for a while now. I saw it in vibe magazine about a year ago. However, I don't think that'll last too long seeing as her "current boyfriend," one of the cats from Dead Prez can't stand them Root bastards.

Dead Prez basically put The Roots on blasts by saying that they try to act all "Pro-Black" and whatnot, but perform in front of more white audiences and, therefore, are a major contradiction to hip-hop and music in general. You know how revolutionary these cats are. They don't even believe in education! sad

Word rolleyes

I love the roots, man! I got much respect 4 them(unlike many niggas out there, they're no fluffs rolleyes) they got truth in their music and most of all respect 4 the sistas BUT what I don't like about them is this whole bullshit act they're putting 2oghether. I really don't get their attitude at all!

They look down on you if you not like them and dont wear headwraps and earthy clothes and go natural. God forbid you wear some name brand clothes to their concerts. They look at you like you dirt. LOL A lot of them have the stuck-up attitude. You're not "black enough" if you wearing your Sean John outfit or for females if you have a weave and wear fake nails. They always look down on commercial artist too. Hell, part of "the keepin' it real" saga is staying away from the shower 4 at least 3 weeks lol just look at them.

But whats so "REAL" about that? I don't get it! I don't get their whole act at all.

I respect their effort tho!

I not sure if they mean to come off they why that they do.
There is a certain element in the black community that is down on materialism.

I do not see any thing wrong with buying designer clothes but, wearing a whole bunch of loud jewerly and bragging about you have every 10 minutes is Ghetto and stupid.

I can understand why they would not want those sort of people as their fans.

I like the fact that they are real musicians and think they are trying to take Hip-Hop in a better direction.

Like I said, I respect their effort but something about their act ain't right at all!

Nobody said go and brag about yo jewerly but if you did then hell if you're hurting anybody, thats yo biz. Why bring other folks down just cuz they're not the same as you. Why all the cockieness? Who told you, you're betta than these people so you could look down at them?(BTW I'm not talking about you lol) Nothing happend 2 me personaly but I heard stuff from people who attended their concerts and most of these thangs aren't that pleasing at all.

No matta what idea you're trying to cross over, there's always a betta approach.

Harlepolis can probably explain it more (from what she said Erykah said on the Wendy Williams show), but I don't think they're an item now. She's been linked with M-1 and Stic for a minute now (they were in "Bag Lady" and "Love of My Life").

As far as The Roots are concerned, I really don't think they're the worst band in the world, but they ain't the shit to be talking like they got hip-hop on lock. IMHO, they can't even come close to fuckin' with a REAL band like Mint Condition.

Well if they are going about it in a mean spirted way then yes they are wrong. On the other hand there is so much bragging about possesions and money in Hip-Hop that I do listen to it much anymore. 15 years of Hip-Hip music about thugging and jewlery is tired and maybe the Roots are just irritated and tired of it.

The Roots play to white audiences because a lot of black folk don't support them. By DP's standard, Public Enemy wouldn't be black enough. And seeing that Dead Prez is to Public Enemy what Craig Hodges was to Michael Jordan, their argument is stupid.

As much as I loved X-Clan, they did the same stupid stuff to KRS-ONE ten years ago.

I don't care how talented they are. those fools need to listen to Gil Scott-Heron's brother and sit down somehwere.
