ok--madonna needs to CHILL!

From today's entertainment news headlines...

Madonna an Angel
Thursday August 7, 2003

Impressed by Demi Moore's brilliantly executed showbiz comeback, Madonna contacted "Charlie's Angels" producer/star Drew Barrymore -- and pitched herself for a demi-role in No. 3!

I've noticed that,in-between albums,Madonna likes to either do a movie or the theme song from a movie. So,in 2004,we should expect another movie-related project from her.Already, her name has been connected to a few upcoing films, including "Charlie's Angles 3".

Here's your daily dose of Madonna trivia...

A few years ago,Madonna was offered $3 million to do the theme song for the film "A Beautiful Mind".She turned it down and chose to do "Die Another Day" instead.

Just on a side note...you would think Drew would not consider another one after No. 2 BOMBED!

The Angels movies suck so bad I can't see why anyone would waste their money going to the theatre to see this type of shit. It always amazes me how much money people spend going to see crappy movies like this. hmph!

Madonna has a place in the business, her acting isn't bad and she's a good singer...she's not the best in singing, but she's the best at what she does and have been for 20years now!

Madonna is a brilliant marketing person, whose a good dancer, has a voice thats appreciated more than J-lo, or Paula Abdul anyday!

Madonna has made a name for herself in music, regardless if you love her or hate her...she is not that bad!

GET OVER IT!

Madonna does have talent!
Enough to get recognition for what she does everytime...
and its not because she's apart of Pop Music, its because ppl are interested and enjoy her entertainment as I have since age 10

In 2001,the first three Madonna albums were remastered: 'Madonna' (1983),'Like A Virgin' (1984) and 'True Blue' (1986).Each release comes with a few bonus tracks. It's just a matter of time before they get to the 'Like A Prayer' album. But,there will be a multi-disc box set just in time for Christmas.Supposedly,it will contain a ton of rarities. These are a few of the unreleased songs I would like to see on it...

***"I'd Rather Be Yo Lover" (1994 demo version with rap by Tupac)

***"Love Attack"---a 1988 outtake from the 'Like A Prayer' album

***"Mad" and "Funk Of A Thousand Years"---two mid-90s duets with Prince that are *rumored* to exist

***"Revenge","Like A Flower"---two outtakes from the 'Ray Of Light' sessions

The hook with Demi Moore was she was making a comeback after taking time off from a successful movie career. Madonna has no hook, no gimmick. Its just Madonna trying to be in a hit movie. Madonna doesn't draw people into the theaters. The kind of part Madonna would be good for is the celebrity that gets killed in the first few minutes of the Scary Movie series. Someone kills her & Guy Ritchie to stop them from making another terrible movie together.

co-sign, sort of...to some degree...i just think that she's not all THAT bad...those of of us who are, or have friends in REAL dance companies, on the front lines on broadway, or demo-ing song tracks from the big 5 KNOW what BIG talent is, yet we don't want to knock Madonna down, because, at least she (sorta) tries...in her own way...

At least Madonna has a sense of humor about her movie career.I remember this funny quote she made in the mid-90s...

"I've done eleven films---twelve if you count "Truth Or Dare"---and I think that half of these movies are great, and half of them are shit. But honestly,I can name Academy-Award winning actors and actresses who have done more shit movies than I have"

There are times when I feel like I'm on a Madonna overload and this in one of them. Her new line of Gap ads with Missy Elliot and their 2-track CD is also getting under my skin. I don't think I would pay to see her in Charlie's Angels 3 and I don't think that an appearance in that movie would do her any good. She has aged gracefully but sometimes she seems like someone's parent or grandparent who is trying to act too cool. just my twocents

That movie turned me off with that Matrix 'wannabe' crap it was trying to pull off. I couldn't care less to see it, despite all the hype because the first one was a 'made for men' type of movie, which made me kind of not interested in the sequel at all, which looked like it was full of it anyway. I'll confirm my beliefs when I see clips of it on cable, if it just so happens to show when I'm channel surfing...rolleyes...

my thoughts...

Charlie's Angels 2 did perform much lower than expected in the US, but after overseas and dvd sales are added in it will end up turning enough of a profit to make a part 3 possible. I hope they do it cos I thought Full Throttle was a BLAST. Granted it's pure pop cheese, but it was good fun.

As for Madonna being in part 3, I think that could be a really good move. IMO, Madonna's always best in BIG movies with BIG casts and her role is mimized somewhat. She was great in a League of Their Own and Dick Tracy. A role in Angels 3 would be similar to that and she could definately pull it off...

Agreed..and hell no i dont agree...

she was so wooden in Dick Tracy...She redeems herself only during her song and dance performances...And that's what confuses me...How can she evoke such wonderful emotions while singing via video or concert..But put her in front of a camera and she is all wood??

and excuse the soon to come masturbatory comments from davideye but when the girl isnt hamming it on camera she ends up looken more oak then morris day...she has never suprassed character-ing a role...which leads me to believe that she has never taken an acting class in her life...

honey, madonna? you swallowed your pride and let people like bjork and william orbit check your sorry pop tendencies...get your ass a good acting coach and learn how to massage a camera...cause when you arent being a ham ala desp seek sus or league (which is pretty much you being you on camera)... you just down right SUCK!!!
Space for sale...

No,Madonna is not a great actress by any means. As I've said many many times,Madonna works best when she's playing a small supporting role. When she has to "carry" a film, she usually falls flat on her face ('Evita' being the only exception),but when she's playing a smaller role, she can be very good. Her bit roles in 'Desperately Seeking Susan','Dick Tracy' and 'A League Of Their Own' were very good and she got great reviews. But,for some crazy reason, that's not enough for her.She insists on starring roles, setting herself up for more disappointment.

Funny we're discussing this.Yesterday,I went out and bought the DVD of 'Body Of Evidence'.That film has always been a guilty pleasure of mine.Madonna isn't very good in it,but the movie works as a scandalous erotic thriller. It's like another 'Basic Instinct',cinematic cheap thrills and not much else.

yeah Madonna the actress sux in every possible way: usually the movies suck just as much as her performance and that of the cast.

Truly Awful:
Shanghai Surprise
Body Of evidence
The Next Best Thing

Average/Un-even with cringeworthy moments:
Swept away

cute:
Dick tracy
A League Of their Own

Good
Desperately Seeking Susan
Who's that Girl (i'm not kidding, the whole thing sux but her performance kinda works within the context of the film)
Up 4 Grabs

Excellent
Evita

UTTERLY BRILLIANT!!!
SNAKE EYES/DANGEROUS GAME (Thanx 2 Abel Ferrara, the only director who had the balls 2 tell her off.)
...Your coochie gonna swell up and fall apart...

I rememember a 1994 interview in which Madonna was complaining that, when her films flop, nobody else involved with the project gets criticized as much as she does.Regarding the failure of 'Body Of Evidence',she sighed and said "I got blamed for everything"...lol...and I immediately felt sorry for her.People often forget that,at times, sometimes it really is the MOVIE itself that sucks, and not just Madonna's performance. For example,I thought 'The Next Best Thing' was dreadful but not just Madonna's performance.Rupert Everett was awful too.

Occasionally, some critics do go easy on her.In a review of 'Who's That Girl',a prominent critic wrote "Madonna isn't the worst thing in it,but that's not saying much".I actuually think this is one of her better movies.Madonna is hilarious in it.
