Music News: Bananarama, Duran Duran, Nena, etc.

For all the 80s freaks like me--this is from a UK list I'm on:

BANANARAMA are to headline a series of shows at Butlins holiday camps in the UK between November 2003 and May 2004. Other bands joining them include THE SELECTER, THE BEAT, SONIA, MUSICAL YOUTH, THE PASADENAS, ABC, LIMAHL, BUCKS FIZZ, and FIVE STAR. See GIGS CLUBS EVENTS at the website (http://www.remembertheeighties.com) for all the dates.

DURAN DURAN have confirmed the release date and tracklisting for their 'Greatest' DVD. The double DVD collection will be released on September 29th, and the tracklisting is in the THIS WEEKS NEWS section at the website (http://www.remembertheeighties.com).

THE PSYCHEDELIC FURS have lined-up a series of shows across the USA in October, but it isn't yet known if they will be performing elsewhere in the world.

ERASURE have announced the final tracklisting for their forthcoming hits compilation 'Hits! The Very Best Of Erasure' which will be released on October 20th. the tracklisting is in the THIS WEEKS NEWS section at the website (http://www.remembertheeighties.com).

NENA has hit out at Robbie Williams after he cancelled a planned live duet of '99 Red Balloons' with the German star at a recent German gig. The pair had met at the recent Echo Awards in Germany where they had hatched the plan to do the duet.

LIVING COLOUR will release a new sixteen-track album 'Collideoscope' on September 21st. The band will also play a one-off show at London's Garage on September 24th.

JOE STRUMMER, the former CLASH singer who died earlier this year, will have his final album 'Streetcore' released on October 6th, preceded by a single 'Coma Girl' on September 22nd.

MADNESS, TONY HADLEY, and BANANARAMA are all on the bill for a special one-off performance at London's Palace Theatre on September 7th. The show is a private concert for Mastercard and tickets will not be available to the public.

SIGUE SIGUE SPUTNIK have finalised their plans for a September tour of the UK. The band will play eight shows across the country to support their new album 'Ultra Real'. See GIGS CLUBS EVENTS on the website (http://www.remembertheeighties.com) for all the dates.

HUMAN LEAGUE have announced more details of their forthcoming double CD 'The Very Best Of The Human League'. The album will be released on September 15th, and the full tracklisting is in the THIS WEEKS NEWS section on the website (http://www.remembertheeighties.com).

THE CURE have agreed to their music being used in a TV commercial for the first time. The band's 1985 hit 'Inbetween Days' is to be used in a new advert for the Fiat Punto that will start showing in the UK this week.

AC/DC frontman Brian Johnson is collaborating with The Cranberries' singer Dolores o'Riordan on songs for a musical project based on the life of Helen Of Troy.

LIVE AID is rumoured to be turned into a West End musical by the gossip newsletter Popbitch. More reliable however are reports that FOOTLOOSE is being made into a musical that will tour UK theatres in the new year.
