I like Mo Rocca but his lisp is so exaggerated. He's so wants to be Cindy Brady. smile

Maybe they will do a sequel to this. The station is doing a 80's Strikes Back in October, so they may follow up this 70's series up with another one...

I am waiting with anxious excitement for VH-1's I Love the 70's. I watched the first run of I Love the 80's, and basically lost my mind and watched it every time it comes on. More than likely that will happen with the 70's. It's hard to describe why I love that decade so. I was under the age of 10, and pretty much influenced entirely by my parent's music and tv watching patterns. All of that is still with me today, and it's quite endearing. I miss that. I agree with those who feel that the 70's were overall a better decade.

Yeah, I gotta agree. Those of us born in the early to mid 70's (and before) grew up on some real music. The electronic stuff is cool at first--in it's time-- but dies quickly. Back then radio wasn't as homogenized as it is today and the songs still had hope in them. Television was much better as well with the aforementioned What's Happening, Six Million Dollar Man, etc. for the kids. Now you've got Temptation Island and Making The Band.

However, not everything these days is bad. You've got shows like ED and Seinfeld recently. The Cosbys and Cheers in the 80's. There are great musicians like Ani Difranco and bands/groups like Radiohead, Outkast, etc. out there. Kids have more coming at them and more to choose from these days and unfortunately the parents aren't always there to guide them. Companies know that sex, violence, and money are the best attention-getters so that's what they throw out there. We've just got to be more selective these days.

Because I know what to look for and where to find it I don't miss the 70's nor even the 80's. I'm simply moving forward with the foundation the 70's provided me.

What exactly is the "80s Strike Back" thing all about? Is it a sequel to the first series? I really do hope they do another 70s series, because there is so much more to talk about.

Ex: Just a thought I had yesterday: what major would allow an artist to start his album with an intro a la Donny Hataway's "extension of a man" ?
