David Bowie's new single premiered on Radio today!

db's NEW KILLER STAR single from his forthcoming 'Reality' cd was given it's World Premiere this afternoon on Jonathan Ross's UK radio show (BBC Radio2)

All I can say is WOW!

The riff sounds just like db's 'Andy Warhol' and Blur's 'Coffee & TV'

What can I say, it's an absolute KILLER single - out in September, but should be at all the usual downloading outlets by now - go get it and give some feedback on this board!

What's it sound like? What's the feel? Is it sparse or detailed? Is it heavy? Melodic? Tell me more!

I read that on the show, he planned on playing 'Motel', 'Battle For Britain', 'Loving The Alien' and 'Suffragette City'. Sounds like this tour is gonna be his best mix yet. And he just added 'Win' to his tour rehearsals. I'm dying here!

wow... i just hope he comes to the DC/Baltimore/Philly area... he has such an amazing backlog of material to choose sets from. I'd love to see All the Madmen and something like Lady Grinning Soul make an appearance..

Throw in "Joe the Lion", "Scream Like A Baby" and "Stay", and I might just mess my pants.

Hi Tron

It's abslutely amazing.
The riff is based closely on db's Andy Warhol(the guitar part), and also sounds very like Blur's Coffee & TV

As db stated, the lp is 'THRUSTY - and New Killer Star as a 1st single is damn hot thrusty man! smile

The overall reaction on bowienet and just about every other site has been a unanamous BIG THUMBS UP - It's classic Bowie - and I'm a veryhard judge!

Yep, you're absolutely correct there, I cant believe he's doing 'Win' - only performed once in 1974(as far we know) - There is a cd boot with it but the sound is quite poor

'Loving The Alien'- again this is a dream come true, I cant express what this means, and of course as he promised last year, he'll be doing the Bewley Brothers - he played this about 2 or 3 times last year for the 1st ever time in his career!

This tour will be amazing!

Oh, the overall sound and feel of New Killer Star is quite like the Scary Monsters & Lodger lp's!

I can see that. I'm listening to it now and it fucking rocks. I love it.

So totally unrelated question: What do you think of his output from Black Tie White Noise to the present?

BTWN is a very underated lp, and thank god today sees its re-release as a 3cd set! 2nd disc full of rare mixes, alternate versions etc, and a 3rd dvd disc of the BTWN video. I think the dvd is nearly an hour long as I have the original VHS

The Buddah of Suburbia lp is fantastic - Untitled No1 is one of my favoirite db tracks of all time!

Outside is a MASTERPIECE

Earthling is way ahead of its time, it's much more than just drum n bass, much more...

Hours - hmmm, I liked it at the time but in retrospect it's quite a poor lp

Heathen is a MASTERPIECE too

Reality - as far as I can tell from the 4 or so tracks I've heard, it's gonna be a KILLER of an lp, and the tour will be one of the gr8est he's ever done, that I can guarantee

BoraBora

I agree with all said by TheLodger.

Only thing I have to point out is that IMO the first five songs on "Hours" are really amazing... after them it became in some way boring and unfocused, but from "Thursday's Child" to "Seven" it is a great achievement.

Just my opinion.

Ha, well I totally agree with you on that point!
Yes 'Hours' has some 'great' tracks for sure, but as you point out, overall it's not a cohesive lp, and lacks direction I think - not one of his classics, I'm sure most agree on that

bowienet members can listen to "pablo picasso" and other tracks..the sound is very fresh, much like a "commercial" struggle (and it's not a bad idea, after heathen..) but still with a touch of genius...wathever he does, it's great..he remeber me of a guy called "genius" in the'80..and crazy and the '90..and "prince who?" in the..well, you guess..

Yeah, Pablo Picasso sounds absolutely awsome
I've got the original version by Jonathan Richman and db's is quite different with a beautiful Spanish guitar intro
