EA Sports Rugby video game to feature NEW INXS track!

Electronic Arts Australia today announced the next installment in the hugely successful EA SPORTS Rugby franchise would feature a newly written and recorded INXS track titled 'I Get Up'.
EA SPORTS Rugby 2004 is the first such game to feature new music from an Australian band and the first to be produced entirely in Australia. Rugby 2004 will be exclusive for PlayStation2 and PC formats and available from September 10 2003.

'I Get Up' features the unmistakable INXS groove and is sure to excite both INXS and sports fans nationally. It is the first new material to be released by the band in nearly six years and marks a return to the recording arena.

"This is a win-win-win situation - the Gamers win, EA win and INXS win. Game players will be the first to hear this great new song from INXS, one of Australia's greatest rock bands. EA have exclusive access to this new music, which enhances the game play and builds even more excitement into the game. And INXS get a new, un-chartered platform for debuting their brand new song to a powerful young audience," said Jamie Mckinlay, publicist for Electronic Arts Australia.

"It's no secret the band are all big sports fans and when we were asked to get involved with EA Sports, we didn't hesitate," INXS's Tim Farriss said. "'I Get Up' has been written for the game and works really well, and with Australia hosting the World Cup, it's going to be a monumental event and a fantastic time for all rugby fans."

EA SPORTS are renowned for putting the latest and greatest tracks in their games and this is no exception. Previous artists to appear in EA Games include Snoop Dog, Bon Jovi, Bush, Rush, Papa Roach and Seether to name a few.

"When we decided we were going to source new music for this game we wanted to find something that had the broad appeal that rugby does. We already knew INXS loved their sports and so we got together to find a song that would suit the game. 'I Get Up' carries the perfect kind of tempo and message we were aiming for and really adds value to the game," McKinlay said.

EA SPORTS Rugby 2004 will be launched in September 2003, well in time for the World Cup hosted by Australia, and will once again feature licenses from the Australian Rugby Union, New Zealand Rugby Union, South African Rugby Football Union, Rugby Football Union, Scottish Rugby Union and the Federation Françoise de Rugby.

Featuring over 1500 players, 20 international teams, as well as all the Super 12 and European domestic teams. EA SPORTS Rugby 2004 will be a sports fan's dream. Play out all of your favourite competitions in over 75 stadiums from across the globe, along with expert play-by-play commentary by world-renowned commentators, John Inverdale and Network 7's Gordon Bray to update you at every moment. Combine this with stunning graphics; sophisticated physics models and AI (artificial intelligence) gamers will be immersed into the big hitting and fast paced world of international rugby.
