i think both of those songs you picked are two of the best
early MJ classics. Damn it brings a tear to my eyes remembering how great of a singer/performer he was back then!
pre-adult MJ rules!!!

He's still a great singer/performer. I just wish he'd sing live more often 'cos he's got such a powerful voice. sad

c-buster i'm not saying he's not still GOOD cuz he is.
but i go back a long way with him and most people my age
will say he was EVEN better circa 1969-72.

i was lucky to see him the year before he signed with
MOtown in 1968 on the south side at a small theater.
and I'm not lyin; the boy was incredible then.
think of a kid james brown and that the way he was then.

check out his vocal on "who's lovin' you' that is one of the
best vocal perfomance i EVER heard in my life!
and he was only 11!!!

I agree. It's a magnificant performance. I was just born too late, i missed him in his Jackson 5 years. A shame.

welll...the great thing is there's plenty of footage
out on him as a j5 member. so you can get a real good
idea how incredible he was. i was looking at an Ed
Sullivan best of DVd from rhino the other day and they
have some 69-70 J5 performances to whet your appetite
on the J5.

i'm still pissed cuz nobody i know has any footage
from that 68 show i was at!

'A Fool For You' on the 'Soulsation' box set is even better IMO, and he was 11 then too, i think.

yep. great singing! i don't know if its out of print now-but
there was an cd out of their pre-motown material...which
had their first single called "big boy"..circa 1968.

It wasn't a big hit...locally in chicago it did alright...
the song is sort of "primitive" sounding but his vocal chops
are superb,even then!
i still play the single every now and then just to remind
myself how BAD he was then.

It's not. There are about 5 versions of CD compilations of all those songs. The original Steeltown recordings album should be out of print though, because that's the one with the 2 songs that the Jacksons were being sued over this year with that pathetic lawsuit.
