Damn how could I forget about this show, he was touring the states at the sametime, INCREDIBLE! His show blew away all the shows I've seen George and the allstars put on. I definietly have to put this in my top three! Did he annoint the audience at the show in stockholm also?

I went to this tour too (Nighttown, Rotterdam) and the show almost made it to my top 5. This show definately blew away the three shows I've seen George and the allstars put on. Much tighter band!
RIP Prince: thank U 4 a funky Time...

Joshy, the concert that nearly made the top 5 was a Max Q show I saw when I was visiting Sydney. It was in a club in Kings Cross, I can't remember the name of it (Whiskey something?). That was early 1990. That was cool.

It's weird that some of the best shows that I have seen were not from my most favorite artists, they just gave kick ass shows.

In the 80's i saw

Rod Stewart - kicking soccer balls in the crowd, great show, great energy.

Tina Turner - '88, Speaking of energy! I took my mom and dad for their anniversary (bought tickets, drove etc). They loved it, but i thought it was kick ass!!

Pat Benatar - Crimes of passion tour. excellent!

Van Halen - Diver Down tour. Whoa, DLR in those assless pants.

Heart w/ John Cougar - good live show

Cyndi Lauper - at Duke University

up in the 90's

INXS - Kick tour (3) times. excellent.

David Bowie - Glass Spider tour. Hot!

It was so long ago I forget if he did Gypsy Woman. You probably have the video or dvd of the 88 tour - Live In London ( Ronnie Scotts ? ) where he is also interviewed by Paul Weller

Tell me MORE about that 1979 Off The Wall Tour . I wanted to go to that concert so bad when it came to here {Atlanta} in November 29th, 1979{ I still rememebr the date}. Kool And The Gang opened up for them on some dates.

The 5 best shows I've attended...

1. Stevie Wonder- Characters Tour 88'

2. Pat Metheny Group- Speaking Of Now 2002

3. Michael Jackson Bad Tour 1988

4. Prince- Lovesexy Tour 1988

5. Keith Jarrett/Gary Peacock/Jack Dejohnette 2002

All of these concerts were over and beyond any thing I could have imagined, but I think I have to give Stevie the edge though. That concert was so splendid!!! Many memories from that one.

Moonbeam

I can't pick just 5 fairly, so I won't. Prince would probably have 4 of the 5 anyway. In my list, though, would be:

Prince- 1/13/97- State Theatre, Detroit. Intimate setting, my first Prince show. GREAT!

Prince- 11/6/99- Paisley Park. My first trip to the Park was a good one! We waited outside in the freezing cold for a LONG time, but it was well worth it.

Prince- 6/21/01- Joe Louis Arena, Detroit. My bro and I got 2nd row seats and I managed to get on stage! It was unreal being up there staring out at 18,000 people and going nuts to "Gett Off."

Prince- Celebration Night 3/2002. FUNK!

Prince- Celebration Night 5/2002. He pulled out all the stops here. Probably the best concert I've ever seen.

Prince- Celebration Night 7/2002. Very emotional and capped a perfect week.

Bjork- August 95- State, Theatre, Detroit. My first time to see Bjork! She was unreal. Perfect.

Madonna- 8/26/01- DVD filmed in Detroit. My bro and I were first row and Maddy paid us a LOT of attention. We ended up on the DVD several times. Magic.

Annie Lennox- 4/4/03- Toronto. My first time to see my musical hero, Annie Lennox. It was a struggle to get there (ice storm, SARS, tickets), but it was well worth it. UNBELIEVABLE voice and energy!

The Cure- 6/10/00- Pine Knob, Detroit. My first time seeing my favorite band, supporting one of my favorite albums. They went on for a long time and my brother and I got progressively closer. They did an all '79 encore that just kicked!

Janet Jackson- August, 1998- Salt Lake City, UT. We were travelling through and ended up in the same hotel with Janet and her entourage. My dad met the stage manager, who hooked us up with ninth row seats. biggrin

Blondie- May, 1999- Fox Theatre, Detroit, MI. Debbie and crew were a delight from our 2nd row seats. My first time seeing them and I'd love to see them again.

David Bowie- June, 2002- Roseland Ballroom, New York, NY. The trip itself was great (my first to NYC) and the venue was really intimate. Seeing entire albums played live was an ingenious plan.

man the Off The wall show Mj with his brothers was great.
Mj was ON that night. i could sort of tell he was prepping
for leaving the group for good. since i saw him pre-Motown
i'd say this was the second best he ever was. you saw his
BAD tour so you can debate on this! (smile)
but the boy was BAD. that night!

..then of course there's the 2 B star star tsy gigs:
The Phoenix Festival 1995,
and Highbury Garage (if I remember correctly) we had 2 wait for four (yes: FOUR!)
hours 4 Him 2 come onstage.
He hadnt even flown in2 London yet! IT really sucked, but he more than made up 4 it.
The Phoenix festival gig however, was just magical - SUCH a great vibe. Amazing.
Just wanted 2 add them as 'honourable mentions'.
