First saw them in 86 at a local festival with SUPPORT!!! by the Smiths and The Fall amongst others. They were ok but they were better in 88 around the time of Technique with Happy Mondays supporting. I last saw them a couple of years ago and they were embarrassing unfortunately. Never saw Joy Division I was too young although I got to like them later.
Still see Hookey in the bars occasionally. He used to see one of my ex-girlfriends.He is looking his age now.

Ever talk to Hookey?

Why were they embarrassing?

Never spoken to the guy. New Order were embarrassing because Bernard Sumner was doing a strange jig-like dance all night that reminded me of when your embarrassing uncle gets drunk at a party and gets up to dance.Making a fool of himself in the process. They just looked too old to be pretending they were still teenagers. Colse your eyes and the music was great though ( apart from Bernard wolf whistling between verses on almost EVERY song )

Yeah I am a very lucky bastid!
I went to most nights on the tour but didn't get tickets for the last night at Wembley.Heard about the aftershow taking place and drove the 180 miles to get there without any guarantee of getting in but had to try.
Got there and there were only three people in the line.Once inside I got right down to the front , stage left against the barrier.I have been to aftershows before but the is the smallest club I've seen him at.About the same size as your average pub/bar.
I have a copy of this gig on CD ( Funky Design. The guy taping it was stood behind me ) and still go back to it for the memories.Best part was Prince stood on a small podium four inches from me. I could have shined his shoes while he was playing this mind blowing guitar solo. Absolutely priceless.

janet jackson's all for you world tour 2002
grand rapids, mi - van andel arena (1-30-2002)
Ticket price: 65.00
Hands down, THE BEST CONCERT OF MY LIFE. Amazing spectacle, huge set, dancing incredible. Everything you could want in an industry show. And my dream came true that night, I met Janet. She took me onstage during her "Would You Mind" segment. I KISSED JANET JACKSON'S NOSE, FOREHEAD AND MOUTH-MIC! THEN SHE KISSED ME! HER HAIR WAS ALL IN MY FACE AHHH!!! I can't believe Janet took me onstage! It was like a surreal fantasy. When I kissed her on the mouth everybody in the arena screamed uncontrollably for like 5 minutes. PLUS, THE SHOW WAS 2 DAYS BEFORE MY BIRTHDAY! That was the best birthday present of all time. To meet my idol, oh dear god, I still can't believe that happened to me. I still have flashbacks from it and my body goes numb! It's not even over. Two months after the concert Janet sends a message to the Miss Janet fan club saying that she's looking for the guy from the Grand Rapids Tour Stop and they wanted my contact information. JDJ Entertainment and her attorneys contacted me and said that Janet PERSONALLY SELECTED my "Would You Mind" experience with her to be on her upcoming "Live In Hawaii DVD." I said I would love to be on it, so I signed a contractual agreement with her, her attorneys and Roger Davies. I can't believe she put me on the "Janet Live in Hawaii" DVD either -- that is crazy! Me and my friends are still tripping about that whole show until THIS DAY!!! We still talk about it like it's new. I will never forget it. My "Would You Mind" experience with Janet is on the "Janet Live in Hawaii DVD." Look for me. She sent me a card in the mail that read, "With Compliments -- Janet Jackson." I'm dead. UNFORGETTABLE is an understatement!

i have this DVD.
& will b watching again 2 look 4 u on it smile
u lucky bastid!
i could have seen Janet on the VelvetRope tour but missed out.
Then she was meant 2 tour OZ last year & she didnt.
one day...
just one day...

1. Prince - LoveSexy'88 - Hamburg, Millerntor
We had a little rainy purple sky to purple rain !
The waiting time before the concert with the Vollenweider harphs will always be in my memory a very special atmosphere all the people that couldn't wait and expected so much to only see their expectations being topped !

2. Lenny Kravitz - Let Love Rule '89, Hamburg, Stadtpark
He jumped into the audience to make a little "meet and greet" his astonished bodyguards needed to jump after him. That was also an open air concert, but I wonder where those clouds came from *ggg*.

3. Jamiroquai - '99 or '00 Hamburg, Sporthalle
The architect did a good job, as the arena survived every single one jumping at "deeper underground".

4. The Time - in the mid 90'ies, Hamburg, Logo
That was hilarious, in front of maybe 75 people, Wonderful concert !

5. Vonda Shepard June '00, Hamburg, Musikhalle
Yes, Yonda Shepard... But after the concert Nicole and I were a couple smile and still are smile

Yours,
Jan

Yeah, I saw them in Detroit at an outdoor amphitheatre and it was insane. People ripping up pieces of the lawn and throwing it into the air. I had no idea. My image of them was still in '87. Seeing them play instruments and the new style won me over immediately.

1.D'angelo 2000,Stockholm
This must´ve been the best show of the tour cuz
I just can´t believe he´d top this.

2.Bootsy´s Rubber Band 1995,Stockholm
This was crazy.A really small packed hot club
& Bootsy tearing the place up.That live in Japan
cd ain´t shit compared 2 the bootleg from Stockholm.

3.Graham Central Station 1996,London
At the Jazz café & before people was tired of him
he put on a fantastic show lasting almost 3 hours
leaving the crowd exhausted. He opened with
"Now do U wanta dance" & I jumped up n down 4 the rest of
the show.

4.The JB´s 1992,Stockholm
I´ve seen Maceo number of times after this gig at the
small jazzclub Fashing but he´s never been even close of
topping this gig with Fred Wesley & Pee Wee Ellis.

5.Prince 1993,Stockholm
Of all times I´ve seen Prince this gig I keep as no1.
It was definitly a magical night.I remember him
tearing the house with "America"
