Madonna in upcoming movie

Sorry if this was already posted. I heard a 10 second blurb on Canadian TV saying that Madonna was playing a prostitute in an upcoming Old West movie. It also mentioned that she was going to be doing some directing on a movie but didn't specify whether it was this one or another. TRON or DavidEye ~ got any more information?

Madonna will executive produce the romantic comedy "She Rocks" for Maverick Films, starring Amanda Peet ("The Whole Nine Yards," "Identity"). The script was penned by filmmaker Amie Steir, who will make her feature directorial debut on the project.

"She Rocks" is described as "Working Girl" set in the music industry and concerns a female music journalist (Peet) who writes a career-making story about a rock star. Maverick and Steir are in the process of casting the male lead for a fall start.

Steir, who began her filmmaking career while a development executive at MTV Films, wrote and directed the shorts "Zoe Loses It" and "Date Squad," both of which starred Peet and aired on HBO.

"Madonna, who not only loved the script but is also very fond of both Amie and Amanda's work, has taken closely to this project that is set in the music industry, a world all too familiar to her," said Caresse Henry, who along with Zachary Feuer will produce for Maverick.

I really hope that Madonna doesn't do any new movies for awhile. She's just setting herself up for disappointment. It's not that she can't act,it's just that people would never accept her as an actress. After "Swept Away",I think she should put her film career on hold.Or,just appear in small roles.Whenever she stars in a big film, the results are often less-than-thrilling.

Last year, there was talk of a new musical that she had written herself. It's called "Hello Suckas" and the plan is for Maddy to star in it.Madonna has even begun writing the songs. Not sure what will become of this project.

i agree with you, davideye...after all the negative hype over swept away, i finally watched it on dvd and really liked it. i don't think she's any kind of great actress but i think when she has a good director and can lean on strong co-stars, she does a decent job. its a double edged sword with madonna and acting though. if she weren't madonna she would not be ripped apart as much in reviews (critics just love to nail her)...but, if she weren't madonna her acting would only end up on soaps or sitcoms.

madge should do a sequel to desperately seeking susan!!! how cool would that be...by the way - i loved swept away i thought madge was great -- the only scene i thought her acting blew was on the exercise bike monologue...you could tell she was just reciting lines of the script...

Hmmm,I think "Swept Away" is a bad film, but NOT because of Madonna. She's actually the best thing in it,although that's not saying much...lol...but yeah,I agree with you.She is actually a decent actress, when she works with good co-stars and a great director. She also does pretty good in films that are music-based ("Evita"..."Truth Or Dare"...etc).

The storyline was boring and predictable. The only real fun is watching Maddy act like a spoiled, rich bitch during the first half smile
