Better Late Than Never (ANNIE LENNOX)

this cd, Bare, is so good. i've read all of the reviews, on the org and otherwise, and it still did not prepare me for the amazing work on that record! every single track is amazing. really! there is not one dull moment or filler song. ok, girl had so much to say that she even explained the cover art! at times this record makes me so angry and then it just makes me sad but beneath all of that is some kind of light and realization. it is a record of growt and maturation and understanding that we can't have everything we want (the way we want it). Go Annie! lets see a grammy or lifetime achievement or some kind of reward for her putting herself out there like this, when so many others are giving in to the greed machine that is the industry!

This is THE album of 2003 in my opinion. It's unreal.

It's a great album, no doubt. It's one of the ones I'm gonna pull out when I need some strength.

For some reason every time I see a number, I hear in my head,"A thousand beautiful things." It's a sickness.

Did either of you like any of the songs on Peace? "I Saved The World Today" and "Forever" remain 2 of my favorite Annie/Eurythmics songs.
No confusion, no tears. No enemies, no fear. No sorrow, no pain. No ball, no chain.

"Peace" is one of my absolute favorites. "Peace Is Just a Word" is a top 10 Annie/Eurythmics song for sure, and "17 Again," "Power to the Meek" and "Forever" are not far behind! All the songs are solid.

Strangely enough, "In The Garden" is my favorite album she's ever done. Such a strong, overlooked debut.

yeah I agree. so many great tracks - especially Belinda and Revenge and English Summer and All the Young... it's a solid, solid record.

Not my favorite, though... that would probably have to be Savage. Every track on that is killer.

"Take Me to Your Heart" is my favorite from "In the Garden"- it's so bleak and icy. "Savage" is actually my least favorite Eurythmics album, although I love it. They have such a solid catalogue that some album has to take last. I don't like "Do You Want to Break Up?" much.

not in my opinion. it's great, but it falls short of her best work.

if we're talking solo albums only... then maybe. it's at least on par with Diva, maybe better.

Take Me To Your Heart - another good one. i always thought that should've been the 2nd single, it seems really commercial to me. of course everything would have been very different if In the GArden had actually done well. Something like the Sweet Dreams album - recorded on a very, very, very low budget - probably never would have been created.

True. I love reading the stories of the creation of the "Sweet Dreams" album and the innovative techniques that D and A employed to make it.

Ok...I'm even later. Just got this cd today! boxed Sorry Moonbeam. I wanted the CD/DVD edition. That's why I was, uh, late picking it up. yeah that sounds about right.

Anyway:
"Pavement Cracks"
"The Hurting Time"
"Bitter Pill" dancing jig
"The Saddest Song I've Got"

Those stood out. It hasn't really impressed me much, so far. But this is the first listen. So we'll see. I just felt it was missing some.. 'kick'. I don't know. Just me. I'm sure I'll end up loving it after a couple more listens.
