My roommate spontaneously mentioned to me that the "Rock the Mic" tour was coming to Salt Lake City, so we made an outing and saw Fabolous, Sean Paul, Snoop Doggy Dogg, 50 Cent and Jay Z all perform. We arrived a little late, and didn't get to see more than 2 minutes of Fabolous, so I really can't comment on his performance.

Sean Paul was quite good, although he seemed tired after dancing. His dancers were in FULL effect and that was a highlight. Unfortuantely, his set was short (6 songs) and the crowd wasn't nearly as receptive as I would have hoped.

Snoop came out and rocked the house. He was easily my favorite. Snoop knew how to both work the crowd and perform to the fullest. His set also featured a LIVE BAND, and they did a James Brown tribute, which I found quite cool. All of the classics were there, and the crowd loved him.

Unfortuatenly, from there on out, the event went sour. 50 Cent came on and was a complete disappointment to us. However, the crowd seemed to love him, screaming louder for him than anyone. He seemed to be struggling to keep up with the beat, and his music just has no SOUL to it. 50 Cent is one of the FEW performers that gives me absolutely no vibe of humanity. In his videos and interviews, he seems completely lifeless, and this was evident in the performance as well. All of us were bored out of our minds.

Jay Z's performance was decent, but after 50's overlong set, we kinda lost our steam and couldn't enjoy as we should. Still, his talents were on full display and I liked his set a lot more than I imagined I would.

Fabolous=

I saw the Roc the Mic tour in Chicago, and the only part of it I enjoyed was the 50 Cent part. I missed both Fabolous and Sean Paul(good), Snoop was high off his ass and sloppy with his delivery, and Jay-Z just irritated the hell out of me, by putting on his side acts: Freeway, Memphis Bleek, Twista, etc. I think he was pissed cuz the energy was mad crazy for 50. Jigga's performance was so blase. Not a huge fan of 50 but the way he commanded the crowd was wild.

Wow. This seems way out of character for you. Cool that you went though.
