Some great updates about The Cure

Taken from the Chain of Flowers website:

B-Sides Box Set - Robert has confirmed in interviews that the long awaited b-sides box set will be released in Oct. 2003.

'Faith Healer' - Robert will be doing a cover of 'Faith Healer' with the Sensational Alex Harvey Band for the Alex Harvey tribute album 'Alex'. No word yet on when it will be released, but check http://www.sahb.co.uk for more info.

Robert & Blink-182 - According to a report from MTV.com and Kerrang magazine, Robert will be doing a collaboration with Blink 182 on their new album 'Use Your Erection I & II'. The album is currently scheduled for release in Oct. or Nov. this year.

One Perfect Day - Robert has mixed a new version of 'Pictures of You' (with new vocals) for this Australian film.

'Believe' with Earl Slick - Robert wrote the words and did the vocals for this song on the upcoming Earl Slick album. Read the lyrics at The Cure website.

Blank & Jones - Robert mentions on The Cure website that he recorded a new version of 'A Forest' for them in May. No other info on when/where this will be released. Keep an eye on the Blank & Jones website.

New Album - The Cure have signed a 3 record deal with I Am Recordings/Artistdirect. Recording is currently scheduled to start on Oct. 1st, 2003, with Ross Robinson producing. No release date has been set, but don't expect it before spring 2004.

Digitally Re-masterd Albums - Robert has confirmed that The Cure will be releasing these, starting with Pornography, Kiss Me, Kiss Me, Kiss Me, Disintegration and Bloodflowers, in 2004. Each will be a 2-cd set, with the 2nd disc containing unrealesed material.

Robert's Solo Album - Although Robert had talked of including his solo album free with the next Cure cd, he now says that he will release it after a few more Cure records are put out.

'Perfect Blue Sky' with Junkie XL - His new album ('Radio JXL - A Broadcast From The Computer Hell Cabin') features a collaboration with Robert on a song called 'Perfect Blue Sky'. The album was released on June 2nd, 2003 in Europe (no US release date yet). The RadioJXL website will be broadcasting interviews and tracks from the album, starting June 3rd. You can hear a clip of the song at Studio Brussel, and read the lyrics at The Cure website. There will also be a "Robert remix" of the song.

Sounds like Robert and the boys are looking to make some money...that Trilogy project must have set them back a bit.

I doubt that. They made a lot of money on those shows and the DVD has sold quite well.

Have you seen it yet? It's stunning.

Yes, everything should be remastered at some point. I can't wait to find out what's on those bonus discs.

yes yes yes. I'm most excited about the box set and the remasters. hopefully they will include "hey you" on kiss me x3 this time as well. Don't hold your breath for that solo album tho. Since like '81 or so, it's been "just around the corner" for lack of a better phrase.
Keep your headphones on.

LOL. Nope. Close but no cigar.

'Friday On My Mind' is a Bowie cover on Pin-Ups.

'Friday I'm In Love' is one of the Cure's biggest hits.

Yes. I own it. And it IS stunning. And I'm sure it's selling quite well among fans.

But the fact remains that The Cure put this set together on their own dime, they didn't squander for quality, and I'm sure it set them back a bit.

When you see an act contributing as many tracks to soundtracks and comps as you've cited for The Cure, it usually means they're either trying to recoup or raise money. It's not a bad thing.

Even our golden idols gotta eat too, you know.

Hmm...I didn't think about it that way.

The B-Sides and remasters are sure to make a pretty penny from the die-hards as well.

He knows that we're all gonna eat that shit up.
