Janet's "Funny How Time Flies When You're Having Fun" Okay, I know this song is hella old, but IMHO it's one of the best ballads Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis have ever written. The song just fits so well with Janet's whispery voice. Love it to death!!!

...is Michael's "The Lady In My Life", with some minor modifications. I suppose it's hard to go wrong when you're 'inspired' by Rod Temperton, one of the best songwriters of our era.
I still like Janet's song, though.

I LOVE that song, its one of my fav tracks off Control. It has a little bit of Art Of Noise sound to it.
Jam & Lewis wrote some KILLER ballads, like Tender Love & Can You Stand The Rain... *sigh* memories... [This message was edited Sun Jul 20 18:46:55 PDT 2003 by Tom]

That's weird. Me and my friend were just chatting about this song on the phone and how we're always hearing it on the radio. It's a classic song and I adore it. I love the passionate ending when Janet goes into francophone ecstacy

I LOVE JAM & LEWIS BALLADS. There isn't a ballad by J&L that I don't like. I love their stuff from Herb Alpert's "Keep Your Eye On Me" album -- that is a great record.

They are some awesome ballad writers. While we're on ballads, I also like Janet's "Come Back To Me." Really smooth and sensual song.

I still like Janet's song, though. Not really. Only the breakdown part where she sings "Don't you ever leave...Don't you ever go...Say you love me so..." sounds similar.

OH GOD. That is my favorite Janet song of all time. You have to listen to the Maxi of that song. The Japanese Maxi single is so good it's orgasmic! oops. lol

I personally liked the video version better than the album version (the drums are slightly different and I think they used an acoustic bass on some parts).
